Having visited Quantum of the Seas in our previous Royal Caribbean Cruises, it was now time to see if there’s any difference aboard the Spectrum of the Seas!

Spectrum of the Seas Check In & Boarding
As we did the cruise just before the easing of the COVID restrictions in Singapore, we still had to do the ART test prior to arrival at Marina Bay Cruise Centre. What we noticed during check in was that the process has become smoother and more streamlined. There were different lanes to queue at the cruise centre, according to the time that you booked using the Royal App. This means that you just have to arrive according to the allotted time and there would be very short waiting times. Of course, if you choose to be kiasu and arrive early, it would not be useful in this case and you’d spend more time waiting. So, just arrive on schedule!
As the waiting times were relatively short, it was soon time for boarding!
After dropping off our luggage, we headed to Windjammer for some light bites before checking out the rest of Spectrum of the Seas!
One thing that we noticed was that Sorrento’s has been shifted to deck 14 together with Windjammer. It is good in a sense that food and snacks can be all done at deck 14. Easy to remember which deck to head to for supper. Next, we checked out the upper decks of Spectrum…
As we explored the ship, we noticed that there’s a new attraction aboard the Spectrum of the Seas – Vertical Reality at Skypad! It is actually a vertical trampoline (of sorts) that allows you to jump to great heights. We’ll talk a little more about it later in the post…
We also noticed that the huge pink bear by the rock wall on Quantum of the Seas, has been replaced with cute panda figures all around the ship! The deck chairs are also all laid out – a stark contrast to our earlier cruises to nowhere on Quantum of the Seas.
For meals, we went for My Time Dining – meaning, we can head over to the main dining room at anytime during meal times. Onboard Spectrum of the Seas, the main dining room has been combined at deck 3 and 4…
It was nice to dine at this modern main dining room. The cut through 2 decks made the entire area seemed so spacious. However, for main dining rooms, we still prefer the main dining room aboard Mariner of the Seas. Spanning 3 decks…now that’s real spacious!
For dinner on our first night, we had…
After dinner, we headed to Royal Theatre at deck to check out the performance by Su Pengfei – an all-round entertainer that included juggling, magic tricks and more!

Spectrum of the Seas Review Day 2
On day 2, we woke up to a beautiful sunrise out at sea!
Before breakfast, we checked out some of the interior (and exterior) parts of Spectrum of the Seas and discovered…
Of the changes above, we were surprised to find that Harp and Horn (pub on Quantum of the Seas) has changed to Leaf & Bean on Spectrum of the Seas. Wonder if its because Chinese tourists prefer tea? Spectrum had just arrived from China, so it might have something to do with Chinese tastes. For breakfast, we headed back to main dining room…
After breakfast, we headed to Deck 3 Music Hall to fold some flowers…😅
For lunch, we tried out the sandwiches at Two70 Cafe…
Then it was time to chill at Solarium on Spectrum of the Seas!
It was still rather nice to be back at the Solarium. However, due to the easing of measures in Singapore, we found the ship to be rather crowded – even at Solarium. 50% capacity for Royal Caribbean Cruises is now a distant memory. Also, we found that there is an area that is cordoned off for suites passengers. This means reduced roaming areas for non-suites passengers.
Meals onboard Spectrum of the Seas is the same as what we had onboard Quantum of the Seas. You can find out everything we had at main dining room here.
After dinner, we chilled at the upper decks to take in some fresh sea breeze…
Soon, it was time for 2 headliner shows. The first, Silk Road at Two70 (Deck 5 – 8:15pm)
We followed up with Gold Art Duo at 9:30pm (Royal Theatre, Deck 4), which was just as good as that onboard Quantum of the Seas
To round up the evening, we took a couple of pictures at Deck 15 before heading back to our state room to turn in for the night…

Spectrum of the Seas Review Day 3
On day 3, we headed to Windjammer for breakfast…
After breakfast, we headed for Arts and Crafts workshop at Deck 4 (9:30am)…
At 11am, we participated in the Guess that Brand Slogan trivia at Schooner Bar (Deck 5), which we won! 😇
This time, we won a key chain as well as a highlighter. Not too bad huh…
Back for lunch at main dining room on Spectrum of the Seas, this was what we had:
The tempura fish was really good! If you’re not sure what to eat on Royal Caribbean Cruises, you cant go wrong with Spaghetti Bolognese.
Booking of the Skypad is done via Royal App and it costs $10USD for about 5 minutes of fun. But it really isn’t easy and you’ll have to get the momentum going before you can reach those heights!
After trying out all the drinks via the Royal Caribbean drinks package previously, we found out something new this time. That you can concoct your own custom drinks at Bionic Bar onboard Spectrum of the Seas!
Sadly, it was already our last sunset onboard the beautiful Spectrum of the Seas…
For dinner, we headed back to Windjammer so as to check out the delightful selection of desserts in store…including a chocolate fondue! :O
We also checked out some other new offerings onboard Spectrum of the Seas…
In the evening, we chilled at Schooner Bar where beautiful piano tunes were performed…

Beautiful videos and pictures, so helpful!!!!!
We are from Texas, interested in the same Singapore cruise. Are the announcements , menus etc in English as well as in Chinese? Wanted to see if we would be able to understand instructions for muster drills, etc. thanks!
Hi Abner,
Yes, most of the information will be in English – though you are able to request for Chinese version of the menu or utilise the Chinese version on the app in English.
Hope this helps!

Hi tom,
Can check for the supervised ART test, how much is the one at MBCC charges? are we able to arrange ourselves for other options for supervised ART.
Hi Nicole,
We’re not aware of the latest developments on the tests. Hopefully other readers are able to advise…
Otherwise, do give a quick call for the official stance on this requirement.
