Spice Brasserie is the in-house restaurant of Parkroyal on Kitchener Road Hotel where daily lunch and dinner buffets are served. This time, we were on an Eatigo reservation and had 50% off our meal. At Spice Brasserie, “Local Food Fare” are served daily and we were treated to some excellent Nonya-styled cuisine! 😋

The layout of Spice Brasserie was spacious and the food were laid towards the front of the restaurant while desserts were at the back of the restaurant…
Lunch Buffet Spice Brasserie Parkroyal Kitchener DIY Items
To add a little bit of fun to the dining experience, there are some items that are Do-It-Yourself (DIY). This includes laksa, ice kachang and the in-house favourite – kueh pie tee
We particularly enjoyed plating the kueh pie tee where we were able to choose the amount of simmered vegetables (that consists of turnip, carrot and dried shrimps), prawns as well as the condiments of peanuts, chilli and fresh coriander to top off this delectable Peranakan dish!
What we had at Lunch Buffet Spice Brasserie Parkroyal Kitchener
As it was the Peranakan/Nonya-themed buffet lunch at Spice Brasserie, we stocked up the dishes in small little bowls and tucked in with a large serving of fragrant basmati rice! But first, we started with a healthy serving of fruits before we pigged out ;P
During our meal, we also tried a little of the claypot assam pedas fish. With its spicy and tangy notes, the dish was appetising and revved us up for the rest of the dishes. We LOOOOOOOOOOved the braised pork belly which were well marinated with a good mix of fatty and meaty parts. Try a big spoonful with the fragrant basmati rice (ala Korean style). Yum! Our other favourite was the nonya chap chye with a large proportion with vermicelli that are infused with the tastes of the well-simmered vegetables and shrimp. This dish just brings you back home.
Ambiance wise, we enjoyed the non-pretentious environment where families were gathering and really bonding with each other through laughters and interactions. This blended well with the open space that the restaurant was designed to – facilitating conversations among guests.

We rounded off our meal with an authentic ang gu kueh (red tortoise cake) filled with mung beans have a smooth texture and were not too sweet. Seconds and thirds are in order for this ang gu kueh. There’s also an ice cream section which served slightly better quality ice creams (i.e not your usual run-off-the-mill Magnolia ice cream) which included the rum and raisin flavour. Shiok.
