SQ First Class Suites. The epitome of first class travels in the skies. Even though we had flown with Singapore Airline’s first class before, SQ first class suites have eluded us. Firstly, it is because SQ first class suites are only available on the A380 flights. Secondly, A380 flights only ply certain routes between Singapore and cities like London, Sydney and Beijing. Thirdly, many redemptions are made a year out. Meaning, if you intend to make last minute travels via first class suites, it would quite unlikely be via Krisflyer miles redemption.
In this post, we’ll give you the complete review of the A380 SQ First Class Suites. How we got to redeemed the flight, pre-flight experience at the Private Room as well as all the offerings on the flight itself!
Redeeming the Singapore Airlines First Class Suites on SQ A380
You might first ask, “Isn’t it very expensive to purchase SQ’s first class suites tickets from Singapore to London?”
The answer, “Yes”.
If you take a look at the above prices, the cost of ticket per person from Singapore to London costs a whopping $9529.80! Inclusive of taxes and fuel surcharge, it can add up to close to $10,000 per person for a one-way ticket to London! For the both of us to fly on this flight, it would cost $20,000 in total!
Thankfully, for those who want to experience SQ first class suites, there’s an alternative. That is, through redemption via Singapore Airline’s Krisflyer programme. If you’d like to find out more on how we accumulated enough Krisflyer miles for redemption, check out our post on the Best Travel Credit Cards in Singapore to start your journey towards a premium class flight with Singapore Airlines!
Through a combination of credit card spending and sign up bonuses (see link above on “Best Travel Credit Cards in Singapore”), we were able to save sufficient miles over a couple of years to bring the both of us on this unforgettable experience with SQ First Class Suites!
As mentioned above, even with sufficient points and booking one year out, there were already 5 people who had booked seats on the 12 SQ first class suites available!
Moreover, if you observe the seating arrangement above, there are only 2 pairs of seats that can allow the combination of single beds – 2CD and 3CD. Thankfully, 3C and 3D seats were still available and we were able to make the redemption. Surcharges came up to about $200 per person and we were able to snag this SQ First Class Suites from Singapore to London for only $400 in total!
If you’re interested in experiencing premium flights with Singapore Airlines, the Krisflyer miles journey could be for you. However, you’ll have to note that when you’re accumulating miles, you’re forgoing potential cash backs and other points rewards as well. At the end of the day, it really depends on what perks you’d like to derive from your credit cards…
Singapore Airlines First Class Suites Book The Cook
Of course, one of the perks of flying with Singapore Airline’s premium classes (Premium Economy, Business Class and First Class) is that you’re able to pre-book your meals and select specially curated meals by world-renowned chefs. The Book the Cook programme by Singapore Airlines, allow you to enjoy the luxuries of fine dining, all at 30,000 feet in the skies…
Using the Singapore Airlines App, we were able to pre-select our meals prior to the flight. From the app, you’ll be able to see what are the meals available “In-flight” and through the “Book The Cook” programme…
After browsing through the in-flight menu and Book the Cook menu, we found the offerings from the international chefs alot more appealing. Of course, the famous Boston Lobster Thermidor from Singapore Airlines First Class Suites, is also only found under the BTC menu. However, before we eventually selected our meal, we also did a comprehensive comparison between the SQ First Class and SQ Business Class Book The Cook Menus…
After doing this comparison, we knew that one of the meals has got to be Boston Lobster Thermidor. This is because in Business Class, only the Classic Lobster is offered. The difference? Boston Lobster Thermidor is a full lobster while the Class Lobster is serves up only the lobster tail.
Eventually, we completed our seat selection of 3C and 3D (combined suites experience!) as well as the following food selection
Brunch: Boston Lobster Thermidor (Tom), Poached Egg served with Hollandaise Sauce (Kate)
Lunch: Wholesome Sousvide Beef Yamato Style (Tom), Wholesome Indian Style Pistachio Lamb Chops (Kate)
Before long (1 year later), it was time for our SQ First Class Suites Flight on the A380 from Singapore to London!
SQ First Class Suites – The Complete Review
If you have read our coverage of SQ Private Room, you know about the pre-flight perks that you can enjoy such as the first class check-in facility
The Private Room experience that only Singapore Airlines’ first class passengers can enjoy. That’s right, not even Star Alliance First Class passengers can enter this ultra exclusive lounge-within-a-lounge-within-a-lounge…(The Private Room is located within the First Class Lounge of the SilverKris Lounge)

The COMPLETE SQ First Class Cabin and SilverKris The Private Room Experience!
After our breakfast at the Private Room, we headed to departure gates. This was one of the few times that we actually got to embark the earliest! The other cool thing about flying SQ first class is that, even if you arrive after the boarding has started, you’ll just have to head to the dedicated First Class lane and you’ll be able to board immediately.
Once onboard, we were greeted by name! We speculate that information could have been transferred from the Private Room. Otherwise, they must have analysed the guest list (all 12 of us) immaculately to make intelligent guesses of who we were. Either way, the level of service by Singapore Airlines is way up there. No wonder Singapore Airlines was named the World’s Best First Class Airlines in 2019.
SQ First Class Suites – The Seats
Once we were seated, we were asked the penultimate question
“Would you like some champagne, Mr Lim?”
“Yes, we’ll have the Dom please.”
After trying out both Dom Perignon and Krug offered by Singapore Airlines on their First Class offerings, we found that we prefer Dom due to its bubblies and slightly more sophisticated taste as compared to Krug. Nonetheless, some do swear by Krug as well. Both retails at more than $200 SGD per bottle, so you really can’t go wrong with either choice.
After our first sips on the champagne and soaking in the entire feel of the SQ First Class Suite Seats (including fully stretching out our feet), we proceeded to check out all the amenities around our seats…
First thing that we noted about our SQ First Class Suites was that IT WAS SO SPACIOUS!!!
There were space to store our carry-on beneath a second seat in front of us. Legs fully outstretched. Plus, there were nifty little storage spaces all around to ensure that your personal items are kept in place throughout the flight. Love it.
During our previous SQ First Class flight, BOSE headphones were offered while Bang & Olufsen headphones were offered this time round. Although BOSE headphones retails a little higher than B&O headphones, we were not really able to tell the difference. Both were awesome! They both block out external noises and allow clear crisp sounds from the movie to come through – perfect movie experiences throughout the flight. So much so that sometimes, our attendant had to call out to us more than a couple of times to get our attention 😛
SQ First Class Suites Lalique Amenities
When you’re flying aboard Singapore Airlines’ First Class offerings, you’d be provided with in-flight amenities. During our previous SQ First Class flight, we were given the Salvatore Ferragamo amenities kit. This time, it was the Lalique amenities kit. Lalique actually started off in the 1800s as a jewellery design house and in the early 1900s as designers of modern crystal artworks. Today, they are synonymous with luxury brands in the home ware, jewellery, perfumes and art segments.
While we were browsing for movies, the signature warmed nuts were brought to us as we continued sipping on Dom Perignon (which pretty much continued for the rest of the flight). Speaking of movies, you’ll be able to find out what’s the latest movie offerings on your SQ first flights. This time, Captain Marvel was a new movie and as we had not watched it, we dived right in…
SQ First Class Suites – Brunch
After a smooth take off, it was time for our first meal of the flight – Brunch!
Although we had booked our meals through the Book-The-Cook (BTC) programme, we were still served the full suite of offerings for each meal, including fruits, yoghurt, coffee/pastries, mains and desserts…
We must say that the brunch really kicked off our SQ First Class Suites experience. Both mains were tasty and the Boston Lobster Thermidor was so succulent! Sipping on Dom Perignon, tasting lobster – fine dining style and watching the latest Marvel movie, all up at 30,000 feet in the air, was simply luxury at its best. To top of the experience, we were pleasantly surprised by the Citron Yuzu Eclair. Aromatic, refreshing and yet comforting on each bite – SQ should consider offering this dessert with every meal on the SQ First Class Suites…Yum! 😛
SQ First Class Suites – Converting to Full Bed
After a completely satisfying brunch, it was time for the “main event” – the full bed and privacy onboard SQ First Class Suites; currently only available on the A380 flights.
Although we were not able to film the conversion process, it didn’t take long before the plush leather seats were converted into spacious twin beds. As the beds were next to each other, we were able to enjoy the space of 2 single beds way up at 30,000 feet! Plus, the beds were every bit as comfortable as they say. For 2 hours straight, we slept like a baby in our very own private santuary; doors can be closed to enclose the SQ First Class Suites.
After we woke up, service continued with snacks and chocolates as we watched more movies including Lego Movie 2 and Wonderland…
SQ First Class Suites – Lunch
Before long, it was time for our 2nd and final meal onboard our SQ First Class Suites flight from Singapore to London. Lunch time!
As with brunch, even though we had selected Book The Cook meals, we were served canape, appetizers, soup, salad, mains and dessert…
As with Brunch, the appetizers, soup and salad were delectable. We were impressed with the flavours of the soup, variety of the salad as well as luxe factor of the caviar. However, there was a HUGE letdown on the mains. The Sousvide Beef which originally promised to be tender and flavourful, turned out to be dry and tough. That left a unsavoury mark on the overall experience.

SQ First Class Suites Review – Concluding Remarks
All in all, the Singapore Airlines First Class Suites is a top-notch product. The “hardware” of seats, full beds and amenities were complemented with the “software” of great food (less the sousvide beef -_-) and amazing SQ signature service. Throughout the whole flight, we felt right at home. Anything we needed were well taken care of by our flight steward and stewardess.
