There are currently 9 Sushiro outlets in Singapore (August 2021) and in one day, we came across 2. Hence, we decided to drop by the second Sushiro since it had a relatively short queue – considering the crowd we saw at the first Sushiro.

About Sushiro Conveyor Belt Sushi Restaurant
Sushiro is actually a conveyor belt sushi restaurant that started in Japan in June 1984. Since then, it has grown to over 530 branches world-wide, offering great tasting sushi at great prices. In Japan, each plate goes for as low as 100 yen! This translates to $1.25SGD. Here in Singapore, each plate goes for $2.2 but the quality is actually better than other sushi chains with the same price range.
As it was our first time at Sushiro, we were relatively “noob” and did not know whether there was an order form or a buffet option available. We checked the entrance and there were none of these information. After walking to and fro at the entrance for 10 seconds (which seemed more like 2 minutes) or so, we decided to just walk in.
The waiter greeted us and led us to our table. Hot water, wasabi and chopsticks were brought to us while we were told to make our orders via the menu…
To further allay our fears, there’s even step-by-step instructions on how to order using the electronic menu on the table. All you have to do is choose the category, choose the item, enter the quantity and click order. Within minutes, the sushi that you order will magically appear on the higher conveyor belt. The lower conveyor belt will continue to rotate and you can pick it up just like a regular conveyor belt sushi restaurant.

What we had at Sushiro Singapore
As mentioned, each plate of sushi that we ordered costs $2.20. However, even the fatty tuna costs $2.20, which was actually quite well-priced…
At $2.20, the fatty tuna was adequately-sized (not a big cut but not too small either) and had the fresh fatty taste that you’ll savour as you swirl and chew on this exquisite sushi. Though we’ve tasted $6 fatty tuna sushi in Japan before (which was thicker and more shiok definitely), this was still a well-priced cut of fatty tuna.
The other sushi that is worth a shout-out is the Cuttlefish Tempura Sushi. When it arrived, it was still hot! Which means it was freshly fried just seconds ago. Needless to say, the tempura coating was crispy on the bite. Inside, it had a nice firm crunch and the cuttlefish could be easily bitten off in one bite. No “rubbery” fight at all! Definitely ordering this sushi the next time we return!
Here are some of the other sushi that we ordered at Sushiro Singapore…
To round up our meal, we tried the Tonkotsu Ramen for $5.50. The broth was ok. Tasted a little artificial but the noodles were al dente. Chasu was decent too – well for the price of $5.50 that is. All in all, we had 8 plates of sushi and the ramen which came up to $27.19 (inclusive of service charge and GST).
Since it is still the pandemic period, before we left, payment was contactless. All you had to do was to ask your friendly staff to check on your number of plates. A bill will be generated. Bring the bill to one of the machines up front, scan it and you can make payment via your credit card. Simple. Before we left, we were given a card for stamp collection. With sufficient stamps, you could collect Dakkozushi collectibles!
You can collect various level of goods with 3 stamps, 6/9 stamps (Group A), 12 stamps (Larger Pass Case), 15/18/21 stamps (Group B) and 24 stamps (Premium Goods)! Have you collected any of these Dakkozushi goods? Let us know more in the comments section below.

All in all, Sushiro is definitely a good addition to the Singapore conveyor belt sushi scene (sorry Sakae Sushi and Sushi Express).
