Swissotel The Stamford was our choice for staycation this year to utilise the Stay Plus Benefit that came with our Accor Plus membership. With our Accor Gold status, it means that we’d be able to enjoy complimentary room upgrade, welcome drinks and early check-in or late check-out. With these benefits in mind, we were excited about this staycation at Swissotel The Stamford this time!
Check-In Experience at Swissotel The Stamford Hotel
As we arrived early during this staycation at Swissotel The Stamford, we were not able to check-in via the self check-in terminals at the hotel’s lobby. Hence, we waited for a while before being assisted by one of the hotel’s staff…
After Cess (the staff who was assisting us), found our check-in details, the process was relatively smooth. Even without us asking, we had been upgraded to a junior suite due to our Accor Gold status. We were also accorded our early check-in benefit as we were still early at 12pm as compared to the usual check-in time of 3pm. Lastly, Cess also checked whether we were able to access our welcome drinks on the app – which we were not able to. She then moved ahead to provide us with 2 welcome drinks coupons which allowed us to have our drinks at several bars and restaurants around the hotel, including Skai Bar! 😮
This, we will share in a bit. But first, the upgrade to Junior Suite at Swissotel The Stamford Hotel!
Swissotel The Stamford Hotel Junior Suite (aka Signature Suite) Review
For our room this time, we actually booked a harbour view room that was about a $42 upgrade from the complimentary Stay Plus room. With that, the upgrade on Gold brought us to the Junior Suite (Signature Suite).
So how does the Signature Suite (aka Junior Suite) of Swissotel The Stamford Hotel look like?
First off, the room was HUGE! At 50sqm, you’ll get a living space with a full sofa, 2 balconies, a study desk and a king-sized bed. As for the toilet, you’ll get a large bath tub as well. It was indeed an elevated experience to stay at the Signature Suite…
We were also very thankful that the housekeeping team had made a birthday decoration, complete with 2 bears and “cake” made out of towels! There was also a complimentary birthday chocolate cake that greeted us as we entered our room as well.
Although the views from the balcony were pretty good, we were actually located at a lower level at level 28. This made us wonder if we didn’t have an upgrade from our harbour room, would the views have been better? Also, the bed in the signature suite actually faces the office building next door. Would the bed of the harbour room face the harbour instead?
From the signature suite, we were also able to see the swimming pool. For this post, we won’t be covering too much about the facilities at Swissotel The Stamford Hotel because during our last visit to Fairmont Singapore, we had covered the facilities – which both the sister hotels, effectively share…
After checking-in, we chilled by the pool for a bit but because rain did come shortly after, we adjourned to Paris Baguette in Raffles City (located just downstairs of Swissotel The Stamford) for a late lunch…
After the quick lunch at Paris Baguette, it was time for a comfortable rest in-room (the bed was so comfortable!) before heading to The Stamford Brasserie for dinner this evening. As there were 3 of us this evening, we had a 33% discount off the ala carte options…
Dinner at The Stamford Brasserie
It was a great dinner experience at The Stamford Brasserie. With the discount and Happy Hour, the total bill came up to $105.77 which was acceptable for 3 people. As for the quality of the food, we went with the medium doneness for the Wagyu beef burger – though moist, we thought it could be a little juicier. Would be back for the medium rare instead. As for the Super Food Salad, it was a surprising find. It had alot of ingredients such as couscous, berries, seeds and vegetables. With the dressing, it was exceptionally delicious. Also, at $12 for Happy Hour prices, the Summer IPA pint was a pretty good value as well. Overall, an excellent dinner at The Stamford Brasserie.
We then bought some snacks at CS Fresh – noodles and beer, in preparation for our soccer match this evening; as well as some bread for breakfast with the in-room Nespresso…
The next morning, we woke up later and caught some HGTV before checking-out at 12pm. From there, we headed over to Suntec City for lunch at Tongue Tip Lanzhou Beef Noodles…
Welcome Drinks at SKAI Bar Swissotel The Stamford Staycation
There was still a Swissotel The Stamford “Welcome Drink” that we had yet to enjoy. During our stay, we called ahead to dining reservations for a 5pm slot (after check-out) for our welcome drink. Hence, after going to Suntec, we returned back to SKAI Bar for our drinks…
We were actually pleasantly surprised about how easy it was to access SKAI restaurant and bar at level 70 of Swissotel The Stamford. All you have to do is to follow the signs and take the lift yourself, all the way up. There’s no pretentious staff at the lobby (aka MBS) that will “escort” you up. Once you’re there, you’ll be greeted by the amazing views of the harbour. Even if you’re not dining there, you can probably get some great shots at the entrance of SKAI restaurant. Next door, the entrance to SKAI Bar where our welcome drinks awaited…
Once we’re in, because of our reservation, we were shown to, what we think, were the best seats in the house. But first, the welcome drinks menu at SKAI Bar…
The staff then told us that we could choose any drinks that were not more than $29 in value. At this, we can safely say that the value of welcome drinks at Swissotel The Stamford is probably one of the best-in-value of our stays at Accor hotels so far. This time, we chose the Vesperana (Citadelle Original, Belvedere, Lillet Blanc, Lemon) and the Singapore Sling – both at $27.
Inside, SKAI Bar was classy with floor to ceiling windows to show the expansive views across Singapore. As it was National Day Parade rehearsals, we were able to see the Singapore flag and F16 flypast along with the Red Lions, descending really near to us. We were also able to see the parade at the Padang…
As we mentioned earlier, the “best seat in the house” for NDP, allowed us to have a glimpse of the National Day Parade rehearsals from SKAI Bar. Of course, the best views are from SKAI restaurant itself. Nonetheless, we were able to see the floats as well as the screen as the parade took place. All in all, this complimentary welcome drink at Swissotel The Stamford turned out to be one of the best-in-value so far for Accor hotel stays.

Because of the upgrades via Accor Plus and Accor Gold benefits, we were able to enjoy an upgrade to the Junior Suite (aka Signature Suite) with excellent views of the surrounding city skyline, all the way out to MBS; we were also able to have an early check-in as well as one of the best welcome drinks we’ve experienced, at SKAI Bar. For next year’s Stay Plus, we’d likely be returning to Swissotel The Stamford, perhaps another room upgrade is in order…
