It is great that Priority Pass has added Terrace Chinese Kitchen, a landside restaurant to the list of access at Changi Airport. However, it is indeed different from a traditional lounge. You will not be able to do showers, have a go at a buffet or have unlimited alcoholic drinks. Nonetheless, restaurants do make up by having quality food. Having these considerations in mind, Priority Pass also added this caveat for guests to consider first before going with restaurant options such as Terrace Chinese Kitchen…

Terrace Chinese Kitchen reminded us of a typical Hongkong-styled restaurant, serving up “Yum Cha” culture and dim sum at Changi Airport. If you’re on Priority Pass dining at Terrace Chinese Kitchen at T1 Changi Airport, you’ll be shown the Corporate Menu:

As you can see from the Priority Pass corporate menu at Terrace Chinese Kitchen (T1 Changi Airport), there are typical Hong Kong-styled dishes such as
– Hong Kong Curry Beef Brisket
– Hong Kong Style Fried Seafood
– Wok Fried Flat Noodles and Sliced Beef
– Steamed Chili Pork Ribs in Black Bean Sauce with Rice & Vegetables

There are also sides that you can choose from including:
– Curry Fishball
– Crispy King Oyster Mushroom with Truffle Menu
– Salt and Pepper Pork Short Ribs

There’s also a drink and soup that is included in the set menu. This post covers food that we tried on separate visits. We noticed that the corporate menu changed slightly. Hence, do note that there could be some changes from the menu that you see above. Also, they also serve corporate menu for breakfast, which, in our opinion, is not really worth it – unless you’re on unlimited Priority Pass access and would like to have some quick bite for breakfast. Here’s what we had at the visits to Terrace Chinese Kitchen Changi Airport Terminal 1, Landside…

First off, we really enjoyed the experience of dining at Terrace Chinese Kitchen because of the interior deco that resembles that of a “Cha Lou” in HongKong. Also, you can have seats that overlooks the check-in counters at T1 – a great way to see the visitors that come to Singapore. In terms of the food, we were pleasantly surprised by both the quality and quantity offered.

The Wok Fried Flat Noodles with Sliced Beef was generous with its beef slices and we loved the chewy texture of the hor fun. There was “wok-hei”, a smokey fragrance when the flat rice noodles are fried in the oil. Overall, a delicious dish. Likewise, the Yang Chow fried rice was beautifully fried with each grain coated with the eggy goodness and “wok-hei”. Of course, the iberico pork char siu heightened the overall taste with its slightly fatty bits.

As for the sides, we actually enjoyed all of them. The curry fishball was surprisingly “taong” and coated with an irresistibly enticing HongKong-styled curry sauce – slightly spicy at that. We also enjoyed the salt & pepper pork ribs. Though it was slightly dry but the fatty bits made it so enjoyable. Lastly, the truffle oyster mushroom. Very crispy on the outside, accentuated by the fragrant truffle mayo. As for the soups, we enjoyed both the lotus pork rib soup and the dumplings soup. But if we were to choose, definitely the wanton shrimp dumplings which were full of pork and shrimp goodness within, wrapped with a wavy-like wanton skin. Absolutely delicious. But of course, the soup is “soup-of-the-day” and you can’t really choose the soup. Hopefully you’ll get the wanton soup during your visit as well!

Overall, we are delighted that Priority Pass has added restaurants such as Crystal Jade Go and Terrace Chinese Kitchen to its list of restaurants and lounges for guests to access. For us, Terrace Chinese Kitchen offers quality food and drinks as opposed to the run-off-the-mill buffet options typically served at lounges. Still, there are some downsides of not being to pick and choose from buffets and also not being able to chill with wines/beers at a beautifully decorated lounge. If you’re on the unlimited Priority Pass access, we’d definitely recommend stopping by Terrace Chinese Kitchen at Changi Airport T1 landside before checking out the other Priority Pass options at the airside.
