Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, home of Real Madrid FC, always invokes such imagery of spectacular ambience and achievements of glory doesn’t it? Having seen Real Madrid’s golden era of David Beckham, Zinedine Zidane (current manager), Raul, Ronaldo (the older one), Roberto Carlos, Luis Figo and Iker Casillas win the European Championship 3 times in 5 seasons, it was indeed a treat to finally visit the Bernabeu Stadium. Thanks to Kate and some great advice online (which we’re gonna share in this post), we got to the Bernabeu Stadium at a relatively cheap price…
Real Cafe – The Cheapest and Fastest Way to See Bernabeu Stadium Madrid
The Bernabeu Stadium is located right next to the Santiago Bernabéu Madrid Metro station. After exiting from the station, you’ll be able to get great shots of the exterior of the stadium and you’ll also be able to see long queues for tickets for Tour Bernabeu…
Tour Bernabeu is actually a full stadium tour that takes you through a tour of Real Madrid FC’s history. This includes a panoramic view of the stadium as well as visits to the dressing room, tunnel and exhibition trophy. The price is actually not too expensive at 24€ for adults. However, if your wife (ie Kate) is not a real (Real) fan, the total cost of 48€ for 2 people may actually be an issue. Plus, the wait for the tickets and queue to enter the stadium can take a long time as well. As a compromise, we introduce to you the cheapest (and fastest) way to see inside Bernabeu Stadium…dining at the Real Cafe!
What to eat at Real Cafe Bernabeu Stadium Madrid
Real Cafe is bar/cafe/restaurant located at the south side of the Bernabeu Stadium. If you’re unsure, walk around the circumference of the stadium and you’ll see entrance to the cafe as shown above.
Once inside, the lady at the counter will ask what meal you would like. Real Cafe opens at 10am and if you’re there before 1130am, you’ll have the option of having the breakfast (at 5.5 €) or the burgers (at 10€). We went ahead and had one of each.
After receiving your meal voucher, head on upstairs and turn to the right. You can choose any seat that does not have the “reserve” sign on the table. The “reserve” sign is placed on seats that are next to the window that has view of the stadium. Not to worry though, after your meal, you can still head into the private area at the end of the restaurant to take a quick picture.
The meal at Real Cafe was actually quite cheap given that you get to enjoy views inside the Bernabeu Stadium. For 5.5€, you’ll get a jamon (Spanish ham) sandwich, a coffee and as orange juice. For 10€, you’ll get a great tasting burger (with egg), a beer and a coffee as well. How cool is that? This means that for a grand total of 15.5€, you’ll have a meal for 2 as well as views of the Bernabeu Stadium! While we’re there, the screens were replaying matches from the golden era as well. It was quite nostalgic to watch Carlos, Zidane, Beckham and co. weave their magic while actually being there at the Bernabeu Stadium!
Before we left, we also got to visit the Official Real Madrid Store located next to Gate 57 at the Bernabeu Stadium. A cool place to visit and get some souvenirs as well.
