The Patriot is a local pub located in Devonport Auckland. On Google Reviews, we saw that the ratings were not too bad (above 4) and we’ve actually passed it several times while staying at our last AirBnB in Devonport. However, each time we saw that it was pretty crowded outside and decided to give it a miss. Nonetheless, the facade of The Patriot as a historic building has always fascinated us. Hence, on this evening, we decided to check out the daily deals at The Patriot and experience the hospitality that it offers…
Inside The Patriot Devonport Auckland
The Patriot is a rather local pub located in downtown Devonport. Formerly the historic Bank of New Zealand building, it has been revamped into a saloon-style pub with seatings by the streets and outdoors upstairs as well. We love the woody decor that is reminiscence of the old Western cowboy era pub – of course, with updates such as a TV to show the latest live sporting action.
The Patriot Devonport Auckland Menu and Meal Specials
One of the things that attracted us to check out The Patriot was the deals that it offers on different days…
On Mondays, you’ll get the Steak and Guinness Pie, Thursdays Steak N Chips and Fridays Burgers and Chips – all for only $20! Remember that we walked past on several days. We were attracted by these meals specials and we got to snag the Burgers and Chips ($20) deal this evening as it was a Friday. We also checked out the other offerings on the menu before deciding to splurge on the Scotch Fillet Steak with Garlic Butter and Mash Potato/Vegetables at $34…
What We Had at The Patriot Devonport Auckland
This evening, it was rather crowded as there was a function on the second level where everyone was dressed fancy for the event. Nonetheless, service was still rather good and our food were delivered to us rather promptly…
We found the Burgers and Chips deal to be rather worth it. The portion was decent and taste wise it was not too bad – though Burger Burger was definitely much better. The Steak was good and had all the fatty bits that we enjoyed as with a scotch fillet. Coupled with the Panhead Super Charge ($11) and Panhead Rat Rod Hazy IPA ($11.5) during the meal – it was still a satisfying experience dining in this historic building.
We also ordered a Kilkenny ($12) just to chill and linger a little longer before we left this evening.

Overall, we think that dropping by for the Meal Specials on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays are quite worth it – definitely a bang-for-your-buck. Chilling outdoors with a pint is another experience we’d like to have the next time we’re in Devonport at The Patriot Pub!
