If you have read our SQ First Class & Private Room Experience, you’d know that access to the Private Room is only meant for Singapore Airlines’ first class passengers flying out of Singapore. This time, we revisited the Private Room to give you a complete review of the offerings available at this exclusive first class lounge.
What is The Private Room?
The Private Room is Singapore Airlines’ premier first class lounge. Eventhough Singapore Airlines is a member of Star Alliance, not even Star Alliance’s first class passengers have access to this lounge. Only SQ’s first class passengers are able to enter this exclusive sanctuary…
During our previous SQ first class flight, we experienced the entire first class check-in experience – that is, alighting at the first class check-in facility at Changi airport and enjoying stress-free check-in, the seamless and private customs lane (now we know how celebrities clear immigration) before being led by an SQ staff to the Private Room.
How to get to Singapore Airlines’ First Class Check-In Facility
If you’re unsure of the drop-off point for the first class check-in facility (many taxi/grab drivers may be unaware as well), head towards Changi Airport Terminal 3 and just before the departure halls, there’s a sign that says “Singapore Airlines First Class”, make a left turn and you’ll arrive at SQ’s first class check-in facility.
This time however, we skipped the “bells and whistles” and headed straight to one of the first class check-in counters within Terminal 3. As we were pretty early for our flight (in order to cover all the meals available at the Private Room for our readers of course), the following conversation took place…
2bearbear: “We’re actually rather early for our check-in. But we can check-in 24 hours before our time of departure right?”
SQ First Class Counter: “No problem at all. In fact, you can check in 48 hours before your departure.”
According to Changi Airport’s Early Check-In website, early check-in is available for between 3 to 24 hours before your departure. However, we have also read that up to 48 hours is available for SQ passengers – which aligns to the notification for online check-in you’d normally receive, 48 hours prior to flying with SQ. *Verified*
However, the downside of checking-in with a counter within the departure halls is that you won’t be able to get your hands on the “Golden Tickets” that are now synonymous with SQ first class’ Private Room experience. All you’ll be getting will be your SQ first class tickets with the sentence printed below
“YOU ARE INVITED TO THE PRIVATE ROOM SKL“
So if it’s your first time flying with SQ’s first class, it would be a great experience to head over to the first class check-in facility and enjoy the royal treatment prior to your flight 🙂

What everyone’s been saying about the Private Room is true. The Private Room is actually a lounge, within a lounge, within a lounge. *Verified*
To get to the Private Room, you’ll first head to the SilverKris Lounge…
Once you’ve been verified as a SQ first class passenger, you’ll be led by one of the friendly SQ staff to the Private Room by passing through the SQ First Class Lounge, that is available to all Star Alliance First Class Passengers. Once you’ve entered the SilverKris Lounge, a left turn leads to the SQ Business Class Lounge and a right turn leads to the SQ First Class Lounge…
At the end of the SQ First Class Lounge, you’ll see this…
This would be the third entry before entering into the classy and exclusive SQ Private Room…
The Private Room Lunch Menu
As we entered The Private Room slightly before 6pm, we were still in time to check out the Lunch Menu of The Private Room…
The coolest thing about the experience at the Private Room is its fine dining experience throughout the day. Here, you’ll be able browse through the menu while sipping on champagne (the ultra luxurious Krug or Dom Perignon) and sitting back on wide-length leather seats within the lounge. As we had previously tried the US Prime Beef Burger and Chirashizushi, we decided to go local and try out the Fried Hokkien Mee. Once your orders are ready, you’ll be led to your seats within the dining area of the Private Room…
Before long, our Fried Hokkien Mee was served…
We must say that the setting does make so much of a difference. The fine dining environment, leather seats, premium utensils, complete with Dom Perignon does uplift the local food dining experience. Moreover, the Fried Hokkien Mee itself was delicious – chock full of ingredients on every bite. Thoroughly satisfying.
To round up the meal, we had a local dessert of Red Dates and Longan Drink (Warm) as well as some chocolate pralines from the small buffet corner within the dining area of the Private Room…
Next, we did a review of Priority Pass Lounges at Singapore Changi Airport, before returning to the Private Room for the Dinner Menu…
The Private Room Dinner Menu
From our previous experience at the Private Room, we knew that dinners here would be different. Premium champagnes would be flowing, complete with lobsters on the dinner menu. Do note that lobsters are usually not available on the lunch menu at the Private Room. *Verified*

For dinner, we went with the lobster choice of Baked Lobster with 3 Cheeses. On our previous visit, the lobster option was Wok Fried Lobster with Braised Wanton Noodles…
We also had the Dim Sum Selection which was always a treat at the Private Room. Of course, the highlight was the baked lobster which was fresh, juicy and succulent. Accompanied Dom Perignon. Simply heavenly…
After a nap at the Marhaba Lounge, we returned in the morning for breakfast at the Private Room…

Right before our flight, we sneaked in one more breakfast review at the Private Room. The usual suspects of Eggs Benedict and local delights (Fried Carrot Cake) were on the menu. This time, we tried the Eggs Benedict and French Toast served with Latte and Fresh Fruit Juices (Apple Carrot)…
As always, we were thoroughly impressed with the quality of food and variety at the Private Room. The Eggs Benedict was exquisite. Well-timed cooking technique results in golden-yellow yolk flowing as you reach in for your first bite. We then freshened up a little at the Private Room before we embarked on our SQ First Class Suites experience aboard the A380 flight!
