When we arrived at Little Havana Miami, we were looking for lunch as we were quite famished by then. Since we were in Little Havana, we ruled out having the usual “Western food” and having decided to have “Cuban Sandwiches” later at Sanguich de Miami, we landed on some Mexican cuisine – The Taco Stand

Before we stepped into the Taco Stand, we were not aware that it was a franchise. If we had known, we would have probably not visited this time. Fortunately for us, we didn’t and were treated to one of the best Tacos we’ve had. The Taco Stand prides itself in delivering the authentic taqueria experience where they serve up handmade corn tortillas, perfectly seasoned and grilled meats along with the freshest ingredients in the salsa and guacamole. Having tried Tacos El Gordo in San Diego, we thought we had one of the best tacos but this, was something else…

Upon entry into The Taco Stand at Little Havana Miami, we were greeted by the menu that showed the choices available for Tacos and Burritos. You can also top up extras in your tacos and burritos as well. It is a free-seating system at The Taco Stand. Hence, we settled ourselves down, made some decision to try different meats and both Tacos and Burritos before heading back to the entrance of The Taco Stand to make our orders…

During this visit, we tried out the Carne Asada Tacos and the Al Pastor Burritos. For the uninitiated, Carne Asada is small beef steak strips that are marinated in lime juice and seasonings before being grilled over fire. On the other hand, Al Pastor is thinly sliced pork seasoned with chili peppers and pineapple and roasted in a vertical spit.

In terms of taste, both the Tacos and Burritos were excellent – beating G y G hands down. The pork in the Al Pastor was so juicy (with fragrance of the pork oil) and seasoned with amazing spices. As for the Carne Asada, it had fresh taste of lime on the beef steak while the guacamole was one of the most enticing and appetizing ones that we’ve had. The beef itself was flavourful and had the aromatic BBQ taste – plus, it was not so salty, allowing the beef taste itself to shine through.

A quick touch on the tacos, the handmade corn tortillas did taste different and the burritos were nicely toasted on the outside while full of fresh ingredients within.

Amazingly while exploring Little Havana in Miami, we stumbled upon The Taco Stand. Even though it is a franchise, this particular one in Little Havana was simply fresh and delicious. The total came up to $20USD with a fountain drink and tips (i.e. ~$27USD – which is a little high for SG prices). The meats, though, were well seasoned and grilled to perfection while the freshest avocadoes, tomatoes and lime were used to season and put the entire taco/burrito together. Delicious!
