    1. Hi Alice,

It seems like you should head over to Hsinchu (2hrs 40 mins from Tao Yuan International Airport – walking and transfers involved) first before heading to Miaoli (40 mins from Hsinchu to Zhunan Train Station). From Zhunan Train Station to Taipei is another 1hr 45 mins. You can get these information via google map.

      Miaoli

We have not been to Hsinchu but at Miaoli, we’d recommend the glass blowing factory @ Kuo Tai

It was quite an experience to not only see glass making (think Murano, Venice) but you’ll actually be able to blow your own glass. We missed the Zhunan Beer Tour but if you’re into beer and fruity 台啤, this would be the place to go. Call ahead of time via skype or the local phone at your hotel. Staying at Miaoli Maison De Chine was definitely unforgettable. Till date, we’ve not seen such an extensive suite of spa pools at an hotel. At spas such as those in Japan/Korea, yes but not in hotels. So definitely something that you may want to check out.

      Taipei

Many Singaporeans have written extensively about their travels in Taipei. Ours can be found here

If you’re heading to Taipei 101, check out the restaurants at the top (different cuisines offered at varied prices). It allows you to skip the queues, enjoy the views while dining and you do not have to pay additional fees for the ride up. Just pay for the meal, which is great. You can also check out what we had at Shilin Night Market in the post above.

Hope this helps Alice. Let us know what you did at Hsinchu as well!

      Happy and Safe Travels!

P.S. We visited before the increase in popularity of Uber/Lyft. You may want to include them in your “transportation options” especially for short transfers to attractions within the city.
