Things to do in Busan – Gwangalli Beach
Gwangalli Beach is one of the major beach attraction in Busan. Located just 10 minutes from Gwangan Station, Gwangalli Beach is a pristine beach that boasts of ultra fine sand and restaurants in the vicinity. One of the biggest draw is the expansive view of Gwangandaegyo Bridge right from the beach itself.
Things to do in Busan – Shinsegae Shopping Mall in Busan
Shinsegae Centum City Department Store is famed because of its sheer size. At one point, it was actually named the largest shopping complex in the world! But the main attraction for us? Spaland! It boasts of 22 spas supplied by underground spring water as well as 13 jjimjilbang, saunas and open-air foot spa. This was also where we experienced being fully naked in a bath house, with strangers – apparently a common thing among Koreans.

Things to do in Busan – 40 Steps Culture and Tourism Theme Street
As explained in our post on the War Memorial of Korea, Busan features prominently in the Korean War because of the trains that brought refugees away from the frontline from to Busan. The 40 Steps featured here was a place where separated families get reunited after a hurried departure from the 38th parallel.
Busan Attraction – Yongdusan Park and Busan Tower
Yongdusan Park is the park next to another attraction in Busan – Busan Tower. As you can see from the photos above, the views were expansive and beautiful, allowing tourists to have a good idea of the landscape in and around Busan. Moreover, the price was really attractive. 30 bucks for entry for 2, 2 beers and a ridiculously large popcorn! Remember to play the game with Seoul Tower visitors once at the top as well!
Busan Attraction – Jagalchi Fish Market
Jagalchi Fish Market is where the freshest sea produce can be found in Busan. At level 1, stalls sell seafoods of all kinds including crabs, seawood, eel and abalone! For a taste of these fresh seafood, just head on up to level 2 and you’ll be able to enjoy them, freshly cooked in a clean environment. For a view of the vicinity, head on up to level 7. You’ll be greeted with an unblocked view of the harbour. Worth a visit 😉
Busan Attraction – Gukje Market
For a feel of how “marketing” was like in the good old days, head over to Gukje market. We noticed this stretch of “green tented” market while we were at the Busan Tower. Today, you can still find shops selling pots and pans, earthen wares and hardware shops.
Busan Attraction – Songdo beach
Probably our favourite attraction in Busan, Songdo Beach has a great mix of beach and areas to visit. Here, you’ll be able to take the cable cars via Busan Air Cruise (15,000krw return to Amnam Park) or take a short walk along the Songdo Beach Skywalk. If you’re game enough, you can take a walk all the way to the east of the coastal walk and cross the iconic red suspension bridge. Savour some fresh seafood enroute as well!

Busan Attraction – Haeundae Beach Dalmaji Road & Dalmaji Hill Busan
Besides the beautiful beach and pristine sands at Haeundae Beach, there are 2 other main attractions here. Along the old abandoned tracks, there’s a tunnel close to Haeundae Beach that both locals and tourists head to for those instagrammable shots. Further up the hill, you’ll be able to enjoy expansive views over the Haeundae area as well. The only catch? Finding your way around. Check out our post for detailed pictures and directions @ Haeundae Beach/Dalmaji Hill on where to head to for those views!
Busan Attraction – Shopping!
Besides shopping at Shinsegae Shopping mall, you’ll be happy to know that there are many street and underground shopping malls all across Busan. At many stations located in central Busan, you’ll find these underground shopping malls. This time, we visited Bujeon Mall @ Seomyeon Station prior to our dinner that evening. Speaking of food, what are some of the food to eat in Busan?
What to eat in Busan – Korean Army Stew at Seomyeon Food Alley
Tried Korean Army Stew? How about Korean Army Stew with Fried Chicken? This version we tried at Seomyeon Food Alley had an addicted spicy and sweet sauce that coats the topokki (rice cake) and fried chicken, making them so delectable!
What to eat in Busan – Korean BBQ was done over charcoal
Sizzling BBQ Pork over red hot Charcoal
When in Korea, do as the locals do. In Busan, the locals do appreciate their Korean BBQ as well. When done over hot charcoal, the sizzling pork and beef wrapped in fresh lettuce leaves an memorable feeling on our taste buds.
What to eat in Busan – seed pancake (Hotteok)
Making of Seed Pancake @ Busan BIFF Square
At Busan BIFF Square, we found a long queue for a curious local delicacy – the humble seed pancake. These meticulously created fried doughs are filled with seeds of all kinds. Besides it being fried on the outside, the plethora of seeds within does make this a healthy snack. A relatively inexpensive snack at 1,300krw.
What to eat in Busan – Pork Noodles/Soup stall
At Semoyeon First Avenue, we stumbled upon a stall with loads of TV credentials and a huge tub of pork broth at its entrance. The simmering broth was enticing and we decided to give it a go. A little bland we would say. But conversely, refreshingly healthy for a pork broth. Coupled with the condiments, a great intro to local taste buds at local prices (7,000krw per portion) as well 😉
What to eat in Busan – South Korean chicken and beer combination (also known as 鸡啤)
Lastly, what’s a trip to South Korea without some authentic fried chicken and beer? At joints such at Tang Tang, you’ll get to experience crispy and authentic fried south korean chicken with fresh draft beers. A great way to end of a day of exploration in Busan. This was what we did before we retired back to our hotel. Where did we stay? Here are some hotels we stayed at during our visit to Busan…
