Dubai Attractions and Things to do #2: Burj Khalifa
Inspired by the Spider Lily (a regional desert flower), the Burj Khalifa spans 160 storeys and is the tallest skyscraper in the world. The Burj is also featured in films such as the Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol where Tom Cruise was seen dangling on exteriors of the building. Having seen and heard so much about it, a close up view still a sight to behold.

Dubai Attractions and Things to do #3: Dubai Mall
As the biggest shopping mall in the world, Dubai Mall boasts of over 1300 retail outlets and over 200 food and beverage outlets. There are several distinct precincts such as the Fashion Avenue and the Souk as well as many stores that offers choices ranging from jewellery, traditional clothing and handicrafts – that caters to different consumer preferences. There are also attractions such as the Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo, VR Park, KidZania, Cinema Megaplex and even an Olympic-sized ice-skating rink! Just be prepared for loads of walking!

Dubai Attractions and Things to do #4: Dubai Fountain
Having seen the Fountains of Bellagio in Las Vegas as well as the one at Marina Bay Sands, we know which fountains have standards. Dubai Fountain has very high standards. Not only are the songs different for each show, the design of the fountains are intricate and they literally dance to the song. Worth the wait.
Dubai Fountain Show Times: 1pm, 1:30pm, 6pm to 11pm (every 30 minutes)
Dubai Attractions and Things to do #5: Dubai Frame
Dubai Frame is both an observation deck as well as an information centre to learn about Dubai’s past, present and future developments. From the observation deck, you’ll be able to see the Old Dubai neighbourhood to the north as well as the modern Dubai city skyline to the south. Plus, there’s a nice little film about what Dubai will look like in the future. Enjoy!

Dubai Attractions and Things to do #6: Al Fahidi Historical District
Al Fahidi Historical District depicts how life was like in the old days with its traditional buildings and separate alleyways. There’s a coffee museum as well as a place where you can take pictures with a falcon. Several retail shops and dining establishments line the district. MAKE Art Cafe’s MAKE Burger was fantastic!
Dubai Attractions and Things to do #7: Dubai Traditional Souks (old markets)
The Dubai Souk (aka Deira Grand Souq) is definitely worth a visit to experience the markets of old. Of course, you’ll be able to see the world’s biggest ring (Najmat Taiba – Star of Taiba) at the entrance of Gate 1 of the Dubai Gold Souq. While there, don’t forget to take a ride to cross the Dubai Creek. It only costs 1AED! 😮

Dubai Attractions and Things to do #8: Dubai Desert Tour
Having seen all the attractions in #FakeDubai (yup, we were told by our drivers that the glitz and glamour in the modern Dubai is, in his words “Fake Dubai), you must join one of the Dubai Desert Tours to check out #therealDubai. We thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful sunset with the fine desert sand as the backdrop. Of course, the performances (tanoura, fire and belly dance) were superb. Check out the video to find out more!
