TownePlace Suites Marriott Charleston West Ashley was our hotel of choice during our visit to Charleston. There were a few reasons why we chose to stay at TownePlace Suites by Marriott Charleston-West Ashley. Firstly, it was a great springboard to attractions in Charleston such as the Magnolia Plantation, Patriots Point, Old Slave Mart, Old Exchange and the McLeod Plantation. Secondly, it was a hotel with full services such as complimentary parking (which was good for us during this road trip), breakfast and housekeeping. Lastly, the price point that we booked the hotel at was not too bad as well. At $160 per night (or $120USD), it was not cheap but still affordable given the prices in the Charleston area.
So how was the premise within TownePlace Suites Marriott? Let’s find out!

About TownePlace Suites by Marriott Charleston West Ashley – A Review
Upon entering into the lobby of TownePlace Suites Charleston West Ashley, we were greeted by our receptionist who was actually quite surprise to find us (Singaporeans) in these parts of the United States. It was sort of a lull period and foreign guests were not usually expected. Business travellers were the ones who would frequent during this period and definitely not foreign travellers from Singapore. We shared that we had just completed the KLOVE Cruise 2024 and were doing a self-drive north to cover attractions in Charleston, Charlotte and Atlanta. As we checked in at 4:30pm, we asked for some recommendations for dinner and we were given this list of restaurants…
Apparently, this list was curated by the receptionist herself and it was classified into different categories that ranged from Southern Cuisine to Asian/Mexican as well as seafood. After thanking her for the recommendations, we headed up to check out our room. But these were some photos we took the next morning to show what else you could be expecting here at TownePlace Suites by Marriott Charleston West Ashley…
The lobby of TownePlace Suites by Marriott Charleston West Ashley is very homely. You’ll find a “living room” area where there’s a TV with comfortable sofas. This area then joins seemlessly to the business and breakfast area. Nearby, you’ll also find the outdoors swimming pool – which we think would be very crowded during the summer months. In addition, for fitness buffs, you can also utilise the gym (aka fitness center) on site that it open 24 hours a day.
TownePlace Suites by Marriott Charleston West Ashley Studio Room Review
The TownePlace Suites by Marriot Charleston West Ashely studio room that we booked was actually very well-equipped. The room itself was a good size with a king-sized bed within. There’s also a sofa bed if the kids are sharing the same room. Inside the room, everything felt new and looked like renovation took place not too long ago. There were hot plates and microwave oven that you can use for some light cooking. There’s also coffee and tea amenities available. Shower was also of a good size with amenities such as shampoo, conditioner and bath towels provided. During our stay, it was very pleasant as it was the off-peak season with few guests this time.
TownePlace Suites by Marriott Charleston West Ashley Breakfast Review
When we woke up from a perfect rest the next morning, we were surprised to find a hearty breakfast buffet waiting for us in the lobby. Of course, you can’t compare to the breakfast buffets of hotels in Singapore such as Fullerton Hotel and Pan Pacific. But it was still a very complete breakfast where you can have hot items such as oatmeal/grits, eggs, sausages, ham and waffle. There’s also cereals with toppings available. For the health conscious, you can have fruits, yoghurt and milk. Coffee, tea and water are available as well.

One thing we love about dining at hotels in America is the waffle machine! We’ll be able to make our own waffles fresh, using the batter that has already been pre-mixed by the staff. But you’ll need to know the amount of batter to put into the machine and to flip it as well – these are usually stated pretty clearly on the instructions next to the machine.
