Trinh Cong Son Walking Street Hanoi Review: Relatively Lifeless on a Weekend Night…

Colourful umbrellas along Trinh Cong Son Walking Street Hanoi

Trinh Cong Son Walking Street is a night market located close to our Airbnb at West Lake. After visiting Cafe Thung Lũng Hoa for dinner, we decided to stop by to check out what is available there. Turns out, post-COVID, Trinh Cong Son walking street had alot less vendors than before…

What’s There to Do at Trinh Cong Son Walking Street Hanoi?

Although most of the stalls remained close after COVID-19, the iconic areas and activities were still available. For instance, after crossing the entrance of Trinh Cong Son Walking Street, there was an entire row of motorised cars and vehicles for kids to choose from. There were police cars, ambulances, race cars and even tanks to choose from!

There’s also a couple of iconic spots such as this colourful umbrella filled section along the streets at Trinh Cong Son

There’s also a lake with a fountain next to Trinh Cong Son Walking Street. The night lights made the flowing fountain that much more magical – though for a brief moment, the power went out and the area was darkened for a while…😅

What We Ate and Drank at Trinh Cong Son Walking Street Hanoi?

Originally, we wanted to try out the street foods from the vendors along Trinh Cong Son Pedestrian Street. However, as not many stalls were open, there were also relatively few visitors. This meant that the food may not be as fresh as we would like it to be. Hence, we visited the stalls and shops along the bank of the lake next to Trinh Cong Son, starting with some fresh Vietnamese beers

We enjoyed our little visit to Bia 10/10 because we were having beers along the road just like how the locals would. In addition, although the staff could hardly speak English, they were trying out to communicate in English with us – which was quite cool. Lastly, we were treated to a plate of oranges (which were very sweet) as we found out that they did not serve fried spring rolls – which would have gone pretty well with the Vietnamese beer.

Thereafter, we headed next door to Half Baked to get some cookies. This time, we tried the Cranberry Cookie (35k VND – $2 SGD), made by the baker who came from the US…

The cookie was actually quite delicious and the owner was quite generous with the ingredients as well. Worth a visit.

Continuing with desserts, we headed a couple of doors down to 2 Cream – an ice cream parlour nearby…

As we had not visited any ice cream parlour for a long time now, we decided to visit 2 Cream Ice Cream Parlour, just 2 doors down from Half Baked. This time, we ordered the croissant with 2 scoops of ice cream at 105K VND ($6 SGD). We chose the tea and roasted strawberry ice cream which were both quite delicious. The croissant still had its flaky texture as well. Yum!

Enroute back, we saw a pond that still had water lilies blooming. As it was the night time, we were not able to get a good shot. But one can only imagine how beautiful these lilies would be in the day time…
