After watching American Football (NFL), Baseball (MLB), Basketball (NBA) and Ice Hockey (NHL), it was finally time for us to watch a MLS (Major League Soccer) match! And what better team to watch than the LA Galaxy? With the likes of Steven Gerrard, Robbie Keane and Ashley Cole, it was well worth it to catch the LA Galaxy LIVE at the StubHub Center!
Watching LA Galaxy LIVE at StubHub Center
StubHub Center is located in the heart of California State University Dominguez Hills. On match day, there will be many traffic marshals to direct you to the carpark. Once a carpark is filled (as with our case), you’ll be directed to the next nearest carpark available. Although we drove quite a distance away from the stadium (or it seemed to us), the final spot that we got was only about 7 minutes walk away. To park at CSU on match day, it costs $15. We were parked a further distance away for only $10 which was not too bad.
As with all stadiums on match day, food and drinks are available inside. LA Galaxy merchandise are available as well. Although we still do not understand why merchandise sold at the “pop-up” tents are actually cheaper than in the official store…pirated goods within the stadium? :O
While entering, we were asked to empty the water in our bottles. However, that is not an issue as there are water coolers within the stadium. Purses and ladies’ handbags are permitted. It is best to travel light for such matches 😉
Why we enjoyed watching LA Galaxy LIVE at StubHub Center
First of all, the tickets costs only $50! :O
To watch the likes of Steven Gerrard, Robbie Keane, Ashley Cole and co. play live, the price is really fair compared to those of EPL (not that we have watched them live but…).
Of course, the other perk of watching LA Galaxy at StubHub Center is that because of the size of the stadium (not so big), you’ll be able to catch the stars up close!
It was so close that if I shouted “Stevie!”, he would have heard it!
Thanks to the genius of Kate in analyzing the direction of the sun, besides the starting 5 minutes of the match, we were pretty much shaded from the scorching sun. It was a 1pm match. Something that you might consider for your trip to StubHub Center.
Lastly, we saw 6 goals during the match! 6 goals! Although LA Galaxy lost (2-4), we were able to see
– LA Galaxy take the lead
– Robbie Keane score a fantastic goal
– Steven Gerrard coming up as a substitute and win a penalty
– Robbie Keane scoring that penalty
Here are some videos of the atmosphere within the stadium…

Having watched the San Francisco 49ers (American Football), San Francisco Giants (Baseball), Portland Winterhawks (Ice Hockey), LA Lakers (Basketball) and LA Galaxy (Soccer), we have pretty much completed the US sporting experience (for obvious reasons, monster trucks and rodeos are not included in this list)!
It is therefore time to tell you what we really think about these sports from a Singaporean point of view! Stay tuned!
