Spectrum of the Seas has completed its change-over with Quantum of the Seas to be based in Singapore till Apr 2023. Spectrum of the Seas is a Quantum-Ultra-Class cruise ship which differs slightly from Quantum of the Seas. We’ve observed some differences during our last cruise on Spectrum of the Seas and here are some of them…
1. Leaf & Bean Cafe (Spectrum of the Seas) instead of Harp & Horn Pub (Quantum of the Seas)
When you board Spectrum of the Seas, you’ll notice that at Deck 4, the establishment right in the centre of the promenade is the Leaf & Bean cafe instead of Harp & Horn pub onboard the Quantum of the Seas. According to the Royal Caribbean website, Leaf & Bean serves up traditional Chinese tea and pastry on top of the traditional Western coffee and pastries.
2. Panda Sculptures (Spectrum of the Seas) instead of Huge Pink Bear (Quantum of the Seas)
At Deck 15, we’d usually see the huge pink bear that is iconic of Quantum of the Seas. Onboard Spectrum of the Seas, it is now replaced with various cute panda sculptures, holding on to balloons!
3. Skypad on Spectrum of the Seas
The Skypad is an additional activity onboard the Spectrum of the Seas but not available on Quantum of the Seas. It is essentially a trampoline for adults where you can really jump to great heights – literally! Costs $10USD per person for about 5 minutes of play.
4. Sorrento’s at Deck 14 (Spectrum of the Seas) instead of Deck 4 (Quantum of the Seas)
Onboard the Spectrum of the Seas, you’ll notice that Sorrento’s has shifted to Deck 14, next to Windjammer. The good thing is that you can now just head to Deck 14 at all times of the day for your nutritional needs. But for us, we still prefer that Sorrento’s at Deck 4, giving us another dining option at a different deck.
5. Windjammer is smaller
Due to the additional restaurants such as Teppanyaki and Hotpot restaurants, Windjammer has decreased in size. While the look is more modern on Spectrum of the Seas, we still prefer Windjammer at Deck 14 on Quantum of the Seas because of the al fresco dining option available…
6. Main Dining Room is “bigger” on Spectrum of the Seas
The Main Dining Room on Spectrum of the Seas is bigger because it connects through from Deck 3 to Deck 4. This is unlike the 4 separate main dining rooms on Quantum of the Seas, which is suppose to give a different ambience and atmosphere for the 4 different themed restaurants. Comparing the both, we like the most spacious and modern main dining room on Spectrum of the Seas. However, our favourite is definitely the 3 stories main dining room on Mariner of the Seas – the chandelier as its centre piece just adds so much class to the spacious dining room…
7. Special Areas for Suite Guests at Solarium on Spectrum of the Seas
You would have heard that there are more areas that are set aside for suite guests onboard the Spectrum of the Seas. While this bodes well for suites guests, peasants like us will have to resign to enjoying half the space at the Solarium as compared to the full premise onboard Quantum of the Seas. This was pretty sad for us as we’d spend a large quantity of time just chilling at Solarium.

Overall, we still prefer Quantum of the Seas due more public spaces available. However, if you’re a suites guest, it is a no-brainer that Spectrum of the Seas would be a better option. Moreover, the newer amenities and decor, is worth a visit by itself! If you’ve been to both Spectrum of the Seas and Quantum of the Seas, which do you prefer?
