What to do at Paradigm Mall Skudai Johor?

Paradigm Mall in Skudai Johor was our next stop after the borders re-opened post-COVID. The reason why we decided to venture further north was that we’d be further from crowds that tend to (like us) frequent City Square Mall and the surrounding areas. Also, prices would be slightly lower as compared to the immediate vicinity past the immigration check point. However, the main reason why we decided on Paradigm Mall was because of the 4D cinema that is available here! In addition, it is probably one of the biggest mall in Johor where you can get all your shopping, dining and entertainment needs met! In this post, we’ll find out what are some of the things to do in Paradigm Mall Skudai Johor!

One of the main reasons that we chose to do a vacation at Paradigm Mall is because of the 4D movie facilities here. This time, we caught Top Gun Maverick and we didn’t regret it! For only 38RM (~13SGD), you’ll be treated to an exhilarating movie experience! As the engine jets were started up, we could feel the rumbling and vibrations on the seats and of course as the plane surged ahead, you could feel it just like how you would be in the pilot’s cockpit. The hard left and right banks were also incorporated at the exact time as the plane turned. There were also “4D” effects such as wind, light water splashes and even “snow” (made of foam) that matched the scene of the movie. For this movie, it felt like an almost 2 hours roller coaster ride! Totally worth it! Not all movies would be suitable though. Currently, Top Gun Maverick and Jurassic World: Dominion have been picked for the 4D experience. Don’t miss it!

*Advisory: The ride would not be suitable for those who have heart conditions or suffer from motion sickness. Yup, the seats move ALOT especially in movies such as Top Gun.

If you have not experience Archery before, Stars Archery at Paradigm Mall would be a great place to start. For only 15RM, you’ll be able to have 18 arrows on actual bows. This time, we decided to “maximise” the experience and went for the 150 arrows 102RM package. Prior to entering the “range”, you’ll be equipped with wrist guard (left hand) as well as glove (right hand). Of course, for left-handed archers, there are accompanying equipment as well. The staff on site will then show you how to mount the arrow, how to aim and the correct posture to draw the arrows. As the bow is not the “masak masak” kind, it really does require substantial effort to draw the arrow back. After finishing the arrows, our hands were left limb and numb 😅 Great fun for the entire family!

For those who are a little more adventurous, you can opt for ice skating or rock climbing at Paradigm Mall. The ice skating rink is the only one outside of Kuala Lumpur in the whole of Malaysia. Hence, if you skate, Paradigm Mall could be a good base for vacations. Ice skating prices start at 30RM. As for rock climbing, fun climbs start at 55RM/person.

As mentioned, Paradigm checks all the boxes. Whether you’re talking about shopping, dining or entertainment, Paradigm Mall’s got it covered. Village Grocer is a great place to get all your snacks and drinks for a staycation here. Alcoholic options are available here too. For shopping, there are household brands such as Uniqlo as well as Daiso. There are also plenty of dining options such as Lao Zi Hao foodcourt that offers famous street food all in one location. All fast-food restaurants such as A&W, McDonald’s and KFC are represented here. We also saw Lavender bakery – now a feature at Jewel. We also wanted to visit Vivo Pizza to enjoy the unblocked views that the restaurant offers. However, both times we were a tad too early and were not allowed to enter – not even to sit while waiting about 10 minutes for the restaurant to start operations.
