During our trip to Solvang, San Diego, Anaheim (Disneyland!) and Los Angeles, we got the opportunity to try some fantastic cuisine. This will be a pictorial post with some information about where you’ll be able to find these stops if you’re doing a road trip on the West Coast of USA!
Pea Soup Andersen’s Solvang California
Besides the Pea Soup at Pea Soup Andersen’s that we’ve tried the last time round, we found out that the fried chicken was absolutely fantastic as well! The meat was juicy and tender while the skin added flavours to the overall taste. Not too oily as well. Fried Chicken perfection!

Opening Hours: 7:00am – 10 pm
Cosmopolitan Hotel & Restaurant
While staying at the Cosmopolitan Hotel & Restaurant in Old Town San Diego, we were able to try some of the food at the resident restaurant. The Kung Pao Calamari was mighty fantastic! Do try it if you’re in the vicinity…
Address: 2660 Calhoun St, San Diego, CA 92110
Opening Hours: 10am to 9pm
Disneyland and Knott’s Berry Farm
If you’re visiting Disneyland (Anaheim) and Knott’s Berry Farm, remember to try out the Jumbo Turkey Leg (look at the size of this thing!) and Dole Whip (only available in Disney and Hawaii) from Disneyland as well as the Cookie Ice Cream Sandwich from Knott’s Berry Farm!
Address: 1313 Disneyland Dr, Anaheim, CA 92802 / 8039 Beach Blvd, Buena Park, CA 90620

Cham Soot Gol
While visiting Knott’s Berry Farm, we stayed at Best Host Inn which was a short walking distance away to Cham Soot Gol – an all you can eat Korean BBQ joint! As we were not too hungry that evening, we settled with 3 dishes to share and they came with a variety of side dishes as well!
Address:8552 Beach Blvd, Buena Park, CA 90620
Opening Hours: 5pm to 12am (Extended hours on Sundays)
Chibiscus
Chibiscus was a surprising find that Kate chanced upon while looking to satisfy our Japanese food cravings. Although it was not the best in terms of taste, in terms of presentation and price, we’ve got to say that they’re definitely above average and much more than a “cafe that serves Asian fare”. Strongly recommended if you’re in town visiting Hollywood!
Address:7361 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90046
Opening Hours: 11:30AM–4PM, 5–10:30PM
Phuket Thai Restaurant
While staying at Holiday Inn Express & Suites Hermosa Beach, we chanced upon a Thai food joint. Food was decent and serving was fairly large. Definitely try the Phad Thai while you’re here…
Address:7361 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90046
Opening Hours: 11:30AM–4PM, 5–10:30PM
