Calgary is famous for its ski slopes at the Canada Olympic Park and many would think that Calgary would have nothing much to offer in terms of cuisine. But that is so so wrong! In fact, we had such a fantastic culinary journey, we decided to write a post just on the food we ate in Calgary Canada!

One of our favourite places for breakfast. OEB takes breakfast foods and adds a new twist to it, offering visual and taste experiences that comes in large portions!

At Diner Deluxe, you get a feel of dining experience in the 70s. Some old menu still remain and there’s even a retro Pacman arcade machine! Of course, what stands out was the food. We had the Jalapeno Chorizo, BBQ Pulled Pork Hash and Stuff French Toast, each at only about $15 CND (CND and SGD is 1:1 at time of writing).

Calgary is actually famous for its steak. In fact, there are more cows than humans in the state of Alberta. We were introduced by our concierge at Marriott Calgary because he mentioned that he always had a great time at Saltlik Steakhouse. Well, we were somewhat disappointed because the lamb was too gamey that evening and the steak was so so only. Desserts however, were good. Service was also excellent.
The Hose and Hound Neighbourhood Pub
Address: 1030 9th Avenue SE. Calgary, AB. T2G 0S7
Opening Hours: 10am to 12am
|
|
|
Hose and Hound is indeed a neighbourhood pub that offers no frills relaxation for its patrons. Just come on in, have a couple of drinks and pub grubs while watching your favourite teams in action. What impressed us was that because of the economy, the pub actually subsidizes your drinks if you have been laid off recently. A nice gesture by the pub!
Vic’s Hong Kong Style BBQ & Cafe
Address: 100 3 Ave SE, Calgary, AB T2G 0B7, Canada
Opening Hours: 8am to 12am

Surprisingly, the beef hor fun at Vic’s was awesome! Although the peanut butter and condensed milk toast was a flop, the yuan yang (coffee mixed with tea) was great and portions were huge for both mains!
Regency Palace Seafood Restaurant and Lounge

At $24.95 per person, the steamboat buffet at Regency Palace Seafood Restaurant and Lounge is a steal! You’ll get to enjoy cooked dishes and a great selection of steamboat ingredients.

One of the better dim sum restaurants that we tried in Calgary. Silver Dragon Restaurant offers a great selection of dim sum ranging from all the familiar steamed dim sums to fried snacks that we know. But it took us quite a while to lay our hands on the egg tarts. Worth the wait nonetheless.
Calgary Court Restaurant

For a late night HK cafe food fix, Calgary Court Restaurant is the answer. The beef noodles tastes just like those in Hong Kong! Seriously!
