True Breakfast is restaurant located at Cuppage Plaza that serves up authentic Taiwanese dishes such as meat floss omelette (肉松蛋饼), scallion pancakes (葱油饼), glutinous rice ball (饭团) and more! The only downside of dining here is the incredibly long wait that you’ll have to endure due to the limited seating capacity in the restaurant…

Inside True Breakfast Cuppage Plaza
True Breakfast opens at 9am daily (closed on Tuesdays) and this time, we arrived at about 10am. There was already a queue then and we were resigned to wait for an hour before we were finally seated in the restaurant…
The ambience inside True Breakfast resembles a homely cafe in Taiwan. You’ll be shown to your table and then you can head over to the counter to place your orders. We also enjoyed the rows of displays within True Breakfast that ranged from Marvel Superheroes to Simpsons. Real cool stuff! Do note that True Breakfast does not accept credit cards. It’s cash, GrabPay or PayNow/PayLah. This time, we ordered the glutinous rice ball ($5.50), scallion pancake ($4.80), Taiwanese carrot cake ($3), Egg noodles ($5.80), Meat Floss Omelette ($5.80) along with beverages of milk tea ($2.50) and coffee with milk ($2.50).
Before long, our orders started to arrive at our table…

True Breakfast Review – What We Had
Kate’s favourite was definitely the meat floss omelette as well as surprise, surprise, the glutinous rice ball! The meat floss omelette had a nice chewy texture that went well with the slightly sweet meat floss. On the other hand, the glutinous rice ball had an avalanche of ingredients within that reminded us of the 大腸包小腸 at Feng Jia Night Market. Yum! For Tom, the noodles was really tasty! The soup had hints of bonito that gave the yee mian a Japanese twist. Would have really loved to try the beef noodles as well. Our total bill came up to $30.90 which was not too bad, considering the quantity of food that we ordered. The next time we’re back, we’d probably go for our favourites of Guo Shao Egg Noodles, Beef Noodles and the Meat Floss Omelette with the Glutinous Rice Ball to go.
