Finally got to catch the San Francisco Giants LIVE at AT&T Park! Having watched the San Francisco 49ers at Levi’s Stadium, LA Lakers/Sacramento Kings at Sleep Train Arena and the Portland Winterhawks at Moda Center, it was time to catch one of the biggest American baseball team live in action – the San Francisco Giants!

Just like a world class stadium, AT&T Park exuberated much fan fare before the start of the match. Fans can have their hot dogs, pizza or garlic fries from the food stands or outdoor dining areas. Kids can enjoy slides near the iconic glove and of course, there are many great spots to take photos of the stadium as well.

Although we took a pretty high (and long) climb to our seats, it was definitely some good seats that Kate got for us. The seats had great vviews of the base in the background and you’ll be able to see every ball, strike and hits clearly.
About Baseball Games
Baseball is not too difficult a game to learn. Just like American Football, all you have to do is know these rules
– There are 9 innings per game. Each team gets to bat once per inning. The visiting team usually bats first (top of the inning) and the home team usually bats after (bottom of the inning).
– The batting team loses their turn if 3 batters gets out by either getting striked out (batter misses the ball in the strike zone 3 times), tagged out (batter hits the ball but ball reaches the base that he is running to before he does) or if the pitching team catches the batted ball in the air (before it touches the ground).
– A batter can take a free walk to the next base if the pitcher throws outside of the strike zone 4 times (also known as ball). This usually happens if the pitcher knows that the batter bats really well and he purposely does so to prevent home runs or more points scored by the batting team.
– A point is scored if the batter runs around the bases back to home base. Team with the most points wins.
HOWEVER, baseball does not seem to be our cup of tea. The whole baseball game takes on average 3 hours to complete and there’s no long breaks like quarter or half time breaks. There’s only a 1.5 minutes change-out between innings. The game can also be really slow if the pitcher wants to break the cheers from the home crowd or try to catch someone trying to steal a base (ie if the pitcher is not aware, a person on the 2nd base can attempt to run to the 3rd base while the pitcher is trying to pitch to the batter). Plus, the Giants lost to the Marlins during this match, which downed the overall mood.
Definitely enjoyed the football, ice hockey and basketball matches more…

Nonetheless, it was still an enjoyable experience to have caught a baseball game in America. Next up, a Major League Soccer (MLS) game!
