Orchard Road : Singapore’s Shopping District!
Orchard Road is Singapore’s premier shopping belt and like most of the shopping districts in the world (think Champ Elysees in Paris, Oxford street in UK and Nathan Road in Hongkong), Orchard Road is a 2.3km shopping belt that caters to the needs of all shoppers from the high end (at Paragon) to the trendy teens (at Far East).
If you’re travelling to Singapore, Orchard Road is definitely a place you must visit!

The whole Orchard Road stretch actually starts from Forum (or Orchard Adelphi) all the way to Plaza Singapura (Dhoby Ghaut MRT) on the other end (together with Cathay movie theatres). However, as Plaza Singapura is sort of de-linked from the rest of Orchard Road (hopefully the whole Orchard Road gets linked up with sheltered walkways in the future), therefore we started our walk down Orchard from Orchard Central.
Orchard Central @ Orchard Road Singapore
Opened in 2009, Orchard Central is the tallest shopping centre along Orchard Road. Although shopping has not really picked up since its opening days, it has carved a niche for itself in the wellness (many beauty salons and hair salons there) as well as the F&B arenas with many choices of restaurants there.
Centrepoint Orchard Road
On the opposite side of the road, you will see Centrepoint. The anchor store here is Robinsons (watch out for the Robinson Sales) as well as the Cold Storage Supermarket.
Orchard Road – 313 Somerset
313 Somerset (right at the doorsteps of Somerset MRT) is one of the busiest shopping centres in the whole of Orchard Road. It boasts of all brands that appeal to the masses (like Zara, Forever 21 etc) and excellent accessibility to the Somerset MRT station.
Orchard Road Singapore – Mandarin Gallery
Mandarin Gallery is a high end shopping mall beneath the Meritus Mandarin hotel. It boasts of high end brands such as Marc by Marc Jacobs & Emporio Armani. Singapore’s world renowned fashion designer Ashley Isham also has a boutique of the same name there. Many teens also flock to Antoinette – a boutique cafe, to enjoy their pastries and cakes!
Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza Orchard Road Singapore
Ngee Ann City or better known locals as Taka (short for Takashimaya, the anchor shopping tenant) has always been the iconic landmark of Orchard Road. It has a good mix of shops catering to the needs of the well-heeled as well as the masses. Plus, many activities takes place at the open area – Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza, such as the annual Subaru Challenge.
Wisma Atria Shopping Centre
Wisma Atria has always been considered a “sister” shopping centre to Ngee Ann City because of the link that connects both shopping centres. Traffic would flow from Ngee Ann City to Wisma Atria and vice versa. Recently revamped, Wisma caters to a similar crowd as that of Ngee Ann City.

Sumptuous Japanese Buffet in Amsterdam! | Things to do in Amsterdam
Japanese Buffet in Amsterdam ?! You must be kidding me! Why did we come all the way from Asia to Europe just to try an Asian buffet? Well, since the price was ok (about 22.50 euros per person) plus the fact that it said “Japanese Buffet” outside the restaurant, we thought that we should “splurge” a little on the special occasion of Chinese New Year – CNY!
Turns out that our idea of All You Can Eat Buffet is different from that of the Japanese Buffet Restaurants in Amsterdam!
Rules of Japanese Buffet in Amsterdam
We’re not entirely sure if this set of rules apply for all Japanese buffet restaurants in the Netherlands but they are not “free flow” as we know it in Asia! The rules are
Rule Number 1 : You can only order 5 rounds of food
(Whaaaaaaaaaaaat?! You call this a buffet?)
Rule Number 2 : You can only order 5 items per round
(Whaaaaaaaaaaat?! Have we been cheated? Is this really a buffet?!)
Rule Number 3 : You can only order the next round if you have finished the previous round.
(Whaaaaaaaaaaat?! So calculative?!)
Well, on the flip side, since Kate and I are dining together, we get to choose 50 items altogether. That’s not too bad, so we decided to go ahead after reading the rules. We soon realise that this “buffet” can be really full as well…take a look at what we had…
Round 1
To capitalise on the number of rounds we have, we ordered the maximum number of dish in round 1 (good strategy right?) The sushi turned out to be one of the best sushi we’ve tasted in Europe (of course the best we’ve tasted was in Japan)! The fish was fresh and the rice was fragrant. The Udon(s) was nothing to shout about but the teriyaki beef was “WOW!” – tender, savoury and cannotstopeatingable! Definitely one of the best teriyaki beef we’ve tasted. The tempura was also good. After the first round, we really wonder why the continent of Europe, eons away from Asia can have such excellent Japanese chefs…(have you also noticed the traditional japanese plates used in this restaurant?)
Round 2
The highlight of round 2 was definitely the succulent prawns. Huge ones at that. Subsequently, we realised that the portion was quite huge because it was brought to us by mistake! Ours should have been a 2 person portion not a 4 person. But still, we heartily devoured them. Teriyaki chicken and fish was good and surprisingly, the macha green tea ice cream was excellent as well (since drinks were not included, we ordered some ice cream to “clear our palettes” a little)
Round 3
The highlight of round 3 was the much anticipated pork tenderloin! It didnt disappoint! It was lightly crisp on the outside and tender on the inside! Could imagine that the meat was tenderised before coating and frying. Excellent! The octopus was also quite fresh. Sushi were just as good as in the first round. By now, we were VERY FULL! Hence, we decided to make round 4 our last round. This idea of buffet really works! We couldnt even make it to round 5!
Round 4
The 4th round was Tom’s downfall. He ordered the fried oyster which was not fresh. Although he knew that it was not fresh (texture was quite hard while chewing), he finished all of it so that he could order something in round 5. This was a bad move. Tom had the runs throughout the night that evening! Hahaha! Beef curry and beef pepper steak was great. Turns out that anything with beef at this restaurant was excellent!
Round 5
After all that (can you believe the 2 of us finished all that above?!) we decided to end our round 5 with something “healthy”…a platter of fruits! Yup, to quench the thirst as well. 🙂

How to cross the roads safely in Hanoi Vietnam
We’ve been told many times about the difficulty of crossing roads in Vietnam especially in Hanoi. So we decided to create a post on “How to cross the roads safely in Hanoi Vietnam” so as to allow all our readers to know the tricks while crossing the roads there.
The thing about the roads in Hanoi is that there are SO MANY MOTORCYCLES ON THE ROADS! As a tourist or visitor there, it may seem like a daunting task to cross the roads.
Motorcycles galore in Hanoi
Even at traffic lights (IF you happen to come across them), you may feel as though you’re targetted by a huge swarm of bees as you attempt to cross the roads.
So how can you then cross the roads safely in Hanoi Vietnam? Do consider these tips when you attempt to cross the roads there…
1. Walk at a steady predictable pace.
This was a tip given to us by the locals at our hotel when we were in Hanoi. The thing is, motorcyclists in Hanoi are used to jay-walkers (people who cross the roads anywhere anyhow), so they will be on the look out for them. If you walk at a steady and predictable pace, they will then try to “negotiate” you as an “obstacle”, swerving in front or behind you. So it is of paramount importance to cross the roads in Hanoi at a steady and predictable pace. That leads us to the 2nd point…
2. Do not become anxious and make a dash for it!
DO NOT MAKE SUDDEN MOVEMENTS! As the motorcycles cross in front or behind you, there is a tendency to want to make a dash for it or just stop right there. DO NOT DO THAT. Continue to walk at that same pace. If you stop or make a dash for it, the motorcyclists that predicted your movement as they drive, may be too fast or too slow when you change your pace and may possibly run into you.
3. Follow the locals
If all else fails, just follow the locals. Well, not behind them, but beside them. If the oncoming traffic is from left to right, stand on the right of the locals. Walk and maintain the same steady pace as them and they will be able to guide you through this forest of motorcycles.

Mustafa Centre is located at the junction of Serangoon Road and Syed Alwi Road, almost at the end of the Little India enclave. Here, you will be able to get almost everything. And we really do mean EVERYTHING. It is like a Wal-Mart that opens 24 hours. Somehow, we think it sells more stuff than Walmart.
For locals like us, Mustafa being 24 hours is like a god-send. This is because sometimes in the middle of the night if you are doing reports (due the next day) and you find that you have no more printer ink or running out of printing paper, you know that Mustafa is there to save the day!
For tourists, it is also a great place because after covering all the tourist attractions like Gardens by the Bay, Singapore Zoo, Singapore Flyer and Sentosa you still have time in the evening to do all your shopping and even get last minute shopping done if you are leaving early the next morning!
Besides the sights, sounds and shopping, you can also dig in to authentic Indian food along Little India. On our visit this time, we visited Komala’s (a vegetarian restaurant) and had the Onion Masala Meal. Yummilicious!

The Onion Masala was huge and was good for 2. The onions were really fresh and the thosai was crispy on the outside. There were also 3 dips to choose from – mint, coconut and tomato. All 3 flavours were interesting and fresh. Do give it a try when you visit Little India!

Elsewhere in Little India, there are also other local Indian fare that you should try such as a the prata as well as the chapati. There are of course other non-vegetarian curry dips such as mutton, chicken and even fish that you can choose from!
How to get to Little India in Singapore
Little India is located at Serangoon road, intersecting at Bukit Timah Road. The best way to get to Little India is via MRT of the same name. After covering Little India, you may also want to visit Sim Lim (on the side of Bukit Timah Road) for shopping of electronic goods.

Park Plaza Victoria Amsterdam : Luxury with a choice of Tradition or Modern Living
On our return to Amsterdam from Prague, Kate and I decided to treat ourselves to a little bit of luxury at the Park Plaza Victoria Amsterdam.
There are many hotels in Amsterdam city centre but where is the best place to stay in Amsterdam? We would like to say that Park Plaza Victoria Amsterdam is definitely way up the list on where to stay in Amsterdam.
The hotel has recently been renovated and it now boasts of an urban wing in addition to its more traditional Victoria wing.
Park Plaza Victoria Amsterdam is a 4 star hotel which has facilities such as a heated indoor swimming pool (which ensures you can still swim even during winter), gym and even free wifi!
Not only that, one of the main reasons why we chose Park Plaza Victoria Amsterdam is also because of its proximity to the Amsterdam Central Train Station. Just a mere 2 minutes walk and you’re there! Without further ado, let’s visit the room we stayed at the Victoria Wing!
The thing we enjoyed about the room was that it still had the traditional feel of the old Victoria hotel. There was an attached bathroom with bathtub. The TV was new with the function of surfing with a keyboard attached.
However, the highlight of our stay has got to be the swimming pool at the Urban Wing of Park Plaza Victoria!
The Fitness Centre
The fitness centre of Park Plaza Victoria Amsterdam has an exclusive feel to it. In addition to our favourite indoor heated swimming pool, there’s also a gym and sauna. You can definitely be able to keep fit or simply revitalise at the fitness club.
The Concierge
Kate and I also had a positive experience with the concierge. On the first night, they introduced us to an excellent restaurant just down the street and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. They even remembered us as we returned and walked past the lobby and asked us how it was! That was great service right there!
The Location
Finally, Park Plaza Victoria Amsterdam is just next to Damrak street where you can really feel the live of Amsterdam. Here you have restaurants, F&B outlets, shopping, agencies to tourists attractions, leading to the historic Dam Square.
Conclusion
Park Plaza Victoria Amsterdam gave us an excellent and memorable stay in Amsterdam. Its service and luxury standards are top notch. So why not book a stay at Park Plaza Victoria Amsterdam? Sunway Lagoon – 5 Parks (Amusement Park, Water Park, Extreme Park, Scream Park, Wildlife Park) at 1 Great Price!
Sunway Lagoon actually has 5 parks in itself. All these while, we thought that it’s just another water themed park. We were wrong.
Sunway Lagoon consists of the Amusement Park, Water Park, Extreme Park, Wildlife Park (Zoo) and even a horror-themed Scream Park! We shall now take you through our trip to Sunway Lagoon!

Sunway Lagoon is opened daily from 10am to 6pm. They’re closed on Tuesdays, perhaps for maintenance on the lowest traffic day of the week? We were there on a weekday and surprisingly there was ALOT of people at the queue line at 10am!

The rates of Sunway Lagoon for adults is 100RM for all 5 parks OR 80RM for 3 parks (does not include scream and extreme parks). There are usually some ongoing discounts with certain credit cards. Malaysians get 25% off as well.

We headed first to the Amusement park and we conquered several rides including the Lost City and a water slide.

Roller Coaster Ride
We must say that the rides here are not really that exciting. For real extreme roller coaster rides, you can visit Universal Studios Singapore OR Busch Gardens. That is what we call a real roller coaster ride! There are also rides at wild wild west section for the kids to enjoy.
One ride that caught our eyes was the Viking. This one’s quite scary. Usually, you’d think that the Viking would just go back and forth right? WRONG! This Viking goes 360 degrees! One whole loop! 😮 You may even “hear” the screams from the following pictures!

Wildlife Park

Next we headed to the Wildlife Park. It’s actually quite a cool place with close encounters with the birds, huge crocodiles that look like that can leap out of the sanctuary and touch interaction with rabbits.

As we walked past the birds sanctuary, we noticed that the birds were at the position that they’re supposed to be! No chains could be seen. We were speculating whether the birds have been clipped at its wings. Else we really cant understand how every bird was in its place as we walked past. Maybe we were lucky?

The Scream Park at Sunway Lagoon was scary. Not as scary as the Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Singapore. Still, it was scary enough for people to drop out at the entrance of the park. What happened was after all the safety brief, a man just rushed out from behind the doors! Some girls cried and some (even guys) left. As with all horror-themed parks, no touching is allowed. That is to say that visitors are not allowed to touch the scare actors and the scare actors are not allowed to touch the visitors.
At the start of the park, visitors are led to view a video clip. The video sets the background of the theme park. It’s about a couple who ventured into Sunway Lagoon when it’s closed (never a good sign). Somehow some pontianaks started to appear and scare them. Thinking that they’ve found a good hiding place in a run-down shack entrance (wassup man? just run out of the park already!), they went inside. And that’s where the guy who saws people up stores his corpses! And thats where the visitors are going.
Inside the park, there are scare actors, scary art and dungeon like settings. After the initial scares, you’ll get used to it. But beware of the final scare towards the end…
Extreme Park

Next we headed to the Extreme Park to try out some of the activities there. Do note that not all of the activities are free. We tried out the air gun (10 pellets), ATV (All Terrain Vehicle) as well as Archery (5 arrows). The rest of the activities such as bungy jumping, flying fox, paint ball and go-kart needs a little bit of top up.
We thoroughly enjoyed the ATV. Though it was a short ride, the slopes were quite steep. This made climbing and descending these slopes a little bit challenging. Some of the instructors had to get out of their own ATV and ride on the ATVs of those who were stuck.
Water Park

Last but not least, we arrived at the most desired destination of Sunway Lagoon – The Water Park!

The coolest part of the Water Park was the slides. Some slides required a map and some floats. And all of them were exciting! Just that you may have to wait about 10 minutes (sometimes) for your turn on the ride due to the large crowds. There could be a longer waiting time during the weekends.
If you are not the kind that enjoy extreme rides, you can always chill out at the wave pool as well. There are also water playgrounds for kids to enjoy.

Ritz Carlton Singapore Staycation: Simply Shiok!
Our recent staycation at Ritz Carlton Millenia Singapore was easily the best hotel stay in our all travels! And no, this post is NOT sponsored and we speak nothing but the truth! The entire staycation was filled with “Wah!” , “Wow!”, “Ah…” and “Shiok!” Kudos to the team at Ritz Carlton Millenia Singapore!
The magic started right here at the reception of Ritz Carlton. This was roughly the conversation we had at the reception
Us : Hi, we would like to check in
Receptionist : Certainly! (as she took in our check in slip)
After checking the system…
Receptionist : We noted your request for non-smoking and high floor with an additional bed. We have arranged for your room on the 28th floor
Us : (“Wow” in our minds) Thank you. Could we also check if we can have a late check out?
Receptionist : Certainly! Let me do a check for you (Notice that she replied “Certainly!” first – makes you feel shiok, before she did the check)
After checking through…
Receptionist : Certainly! We will honour your late check out at 4pm!
Us : Thanks! Can we also have a parking coupon?
Receptionist : Certainly! You can receive your complimentary parking from the concierge
Us : Thank you!
Not only was the service professional (it was the first time we heard the word “certainly” so many times over!), it was topped with the following act – The receptionist actually stepped out of the reception booth (by walking 10 metres), came over the counter and personally handed our room keys to us! 😮 We were pleasantly surprised by this gesture and personal touch!
Premier Room at Ritz Carlton Millenia Singapore
Our stay on the 28th floor of Ritz Carlton Singapore was at the Premier Room with views of the city. Although it was not the Marina Bay View, we still said “Wah!” when we entered the room. It was because this view greeted us as we entered…(isnt always a surprise to enter the hotel room for the first time?)
The windows were huge and surprisingly clear both on the inside and outside, giving occupants a splendid view of the City & Kallang area!
After walking past the bed and the TV, Kate let out another “Wah!” at the bathroom…
The bath tub had a window view of the city and kallang area as well! The blinds were also automated which means you dont have to struggle with pulling the blinds open and close by yourself! There’s a knob beside the switch for the blinds that adjusts the volume of the TV in the bathroom! Resting in this bath tub with the view was simply “Ah…” There’s also a huge dressing table and mirror in the bathroom, complete with a rain shower bathing area!
The room itself was spacious and had class written all over it…
The king size bed was fluffy, luxurious and was irresistibly comfortable! If you take a look carefully at the wall of the bedroom, it is actually shining and glossy!
The Samsung TV was huge and the sound system of the TV is connected to the bathroom as well! The cabinet below was also well equipped with complimentary coffee/tea, refrigerator (have to pay for snacks and drinks), an ice cooler as well as a kettle!
There’s also a little wardrobe beside your bed with bathrobes, safe and ironing facilities. Note that the lights of the wardroom is activated when the door is open. Just close the door to switch off the lights.
There are also other neat little gadgets around the room (playing “hide and seek” with you). Find them!
Swimming Pool at Ritz Carlton Singapore
The swimming pool at Ritz Carlton is located at the first floor. To get there, you can either walk down the stairs from the main lobby or take the lift to the first floor and walk past the gym. You will be given a bottle of water if you take the route past the gym.
The excellent service extends even to the pool area! After getting the bottle of water (which the receptionist said “enjoy your swim!”), you will be led to a deck chair by the pool by an assistant. The assistant will then lay a towel over your choice of deck chair (so that you can lie on the towel) and place the other towel on the deck chair for you to use!
There are steps on both sides of the pool so people can just lie beside the pool to get a tan if they want to. The pool is also not deep so kids can enjoy a splash, under supervision that is. There is also a jacuzzi by the side of the pool…
The jacuzzi is not the special bit but if you notice, there’s a smaller circular dip beside the jacuzzi. It is a cold bath! We entered and it seemed to be at about 15 degrees celsius or so. Cold baths are said to be able to help in muscle recovery. True? Not sure, but it is quite shiok to enter the cold bath first before a swim in the pool. This makes the pool relatively warm to your cooled skin.
Then the magic happened again. It started to drizzle by the pool and guess what? The assistants started to appear with umbrellas each in their hands. As you signal to them, they will shelter you personally back to the gym area! 😮 Talk about excellent service…
Back at the gym, the changing rooms have a steam bath as well as a sauna. The sauna is the traditional kind where you can increase the temperature by scooping water over heated stones!

Although our room did not have views of the Marina Bay, we could see the same view from the lift lobby!
Buffet Breakfast at Ritz Carlton Singapore
Walking past the lobby, you will find the Greenhouse restaurant. This is where the buffet breakfast is served from 630 to 1030 daily.
The breakfast spread was quite common with a choice of asian – fried noodles, dim sum, english – muffins, cereals & western – sausage, omelettes and bacon.
We took some of the pastries as well as the char siew bao. It is recommended that you furiously attack the char siew bao because it is fluffy on the outside and mildly sweet and savoury on the inside. Yum! Besides the Yakult, there’s nothing else that really stands out at the buffet. Oh, do give the pancakes a try as well. They actually have different berries to go along with the pancakes.
How to get to Ritz Carlton Millenia Singapore
Ritz Carlton Singapore is located at 7 Raffles Avenue. You can of course drive there as parking is complimentary. However, we recommend that you take the MRT to Promenade (closest MRT station) on the circle line OR take a short walk from City Hall via Marina Square. There is a side entrance from Marina Square to Singapore’s Ritz Carlton.

The most iconic architecture in Prague has got to be the Prague Castle. Every corner you turn to, there it is – The Prague Castle!
Prague Castle is the largest ancient castle in the world at approximately 600m long and 150m wide. It is also where the kings, emperors and presidents of the Czech Republic used to have their offices. Given its excellent views overlooking Prague, it is no wonder that the Prague Castle is the most visited tourist attraction in Prague.
It is important to note the difference between St. Vitus Cathedral and the Prague Castle itself. Many people mistake the pointed structure from afar as the Prague Castle…
Technically, St. Vitus Cathedral is part of the Prague Castle and this is the entrance to the castle.

The structure on the right is the St. Vitus Cathedral. We’re actually taking a picture of the private linkway where the king would enter into the balcony for service – without being uninterrupted.
St. Vitus Cathedral is the largest church in the country and it contains many smaller chapels and works of art – including the stained glass windows of the church. There is a little known fact about the roof of the St. Vitus Cathedral. It is said that a portion of the roof was hit by lightning before and it was thereafter restored. However, if you take a closer look, you would see that part of the roof no longer contains the gothic design like the rest of the cathedral, but more of a baroque architecture (do correct us if we’re wrong here!).
Golden Lane
Golden Lane is a series of small colourful shops that used to be the housing for the palace guards. Today, it is a tourist attraction for guests to see how small and amusing the interiors can be! A little tip for our readers : you can actually enter Golden Lane for free. Just hang around till the closing hours (1800 during the summer months and 1600 during the winter months) and you get to go in for free! Make sure you enter just after the closing hours to have a glimpse inside the houses while the shop keepers are still around!

There are actually 2 ways to walk up to Prague Castle by foot. You can either follow the old castle stairway from Malostranska Metro Station OR commence from Lesser Town via Nerudova Street (which is a steeper but more enjoyable walk)
By Tram
Take either the 22 or 23 up to the hill and alight at Prazsky Hrad (which is Prague Castle)

What is a visit to Prague without a trip up to Petrin Hill via the Funicular? At Petrin Hill, you can enjoy amazing views of Prague, scale the Petrin look-out tower, head for the hall of mirrors (mirror maze) or simply stroll along the hills to Strahov Monastery.

We were quite early this particular morning. Air was still cold but the sun was coming up. We were actually the first to take the funicular. There were a few others who took the first train up the hill as well – maybe workers at the restaurants? If you’re early like us and not sure what to do, there’s actually a mini museum depicting the history of the funicular. An interesting history…
Petrin Tower and Hunger Wall
The main attraction atop of Petrin Hill would be the Petrin look-out Tower.
The Petrin Tower was built in 1891 for the Jubilee Exhibition. It is purposely reconstructed as a mini replica of the Eiffel Tower (looks familiar eh?). The tower is 60m high and has 299 steps to the top platform.
The wall you see in this picture is also known as the Hunger Wall. It was said that the wall was built by Charles the 4th, not as a means of defence but actually to employ the poor people and to feed them – hence the name Hunger Wall.
Mirror Labyrinth
Again, we were early and we had to wait till the Mirror Labyrinth opened (opens at 10am daily except during winter months, opens on saturday and sunday only). It contains a maze of mirrors as well as some contoured mirrors for whimsical (laughter hall) effects.

The location of the Municipal House Prague used to be the seat of Bohemian Kings in the 14th and 15th Century. It was then demolished at the end of the 19th century. In its place, the current Municipal House was built between 1906 and 1912.
What to do at Municipal House Prague
If you observe carefully, the mosaic above the entrance is actually a homage to Prague. It is set between sculptures that represent the oppression upon the Czech people. Other sculptures at the top represents various areas of the arts such as history, literature, painting, music and architecture.
The real reason why we’re here is actually to enjoy a leisurely afternoon tea at the Kavárna obecní Dům, commonly known as the Municipal House Cafe. Here, you can enjoy the lavish setting , live piano accompaniment in the background, excellent service as well as the opportunity to just immerse yourself in the history and art nouveau designs exuberated by the Municipal House.
We ordered the Menu 1 and Menu 3 (approximately 8 euros each) and we had the apple strudel with vanilla ice cream, the traditional “sachers” cake with whipped cream, tea as well as some liquer.
We were pleasantly surprised at the set up of the tea set. Simple yet classy. The cake and strudel was good as well. The whipped cream was the kind that you know is freshly made, not too sweet, just nice. Lastly, we ended off the meal with liquer. We have never tried egg liquer EVER, so it was interesting to have tasted the egg liquer. Quite nice actually. Sweet alcohol with a tinge of egginess to it.

Ever since Marina Bay Sands opened in April 2010, we’ve wanted to visit the Marina Bay Sands Skypark to see the views of Singapore from the 57th floor observatory.
After splurging at Todai Buffet Restaurant at B2 of Marina Bay Sands, we finally received some complimentary tickets to the skypark (part of a promotion at MBS) and got to visit the sky park!

The tickets cost $20 for adults, $14 for children aged 2-12 years old , $17 for senior citizens aged 65 years and above. There’s also guided tours held daily at a first come first served basis. Hence, it would be wise to buy the tickets early and sign up for the complimentary tours of the skypark. The tour would allow you to visit the infinity pool, otherwise you can only see the sky pool from a distance. The pool used to be open for visits to the public but guess the hotel guests didnt enjoy others walking pass and taking photos of them in pool…
There is actually an alternative way to enter the skypark. You can visit any of the skypark dining venues, namely Ku De Ta, Sky on 57 or The Chocolate Bar. For the same price of $20 bucks, you can also enjoy a beer (could be cheaper for soft drinks) and enjoy complimentary visit to the sky park. The entry area would be at the various restaurant counters – do visit the information counter for directions.

After spending some time in the queue and seeing the miniature model of MBS, we got into the lift up to the 56th floor. The lift was rather fast and there wasnt much issue with pressure difference of the ear. As the lift opened at the 56th floor, there was a lift attendant to guide us towards the park so as to control the “human traffic” as there were others taking the lift down as well.

Wenceslas Square Prague – Shopping , Dining , Cinemas and more!
Wenceslas Square was constructed in the 15th century during the time of Charles the 4th. At that time, it was used as a horse market. Since then, Wenceslas Square is a regular venue for parades is today a much visited tourist attraction.
Location of Wenceslas Square Prague
Wenceslas Square is home to the commerce of Prague having shopping arcades, cafes, restaurants and other entertainment venues. Here you will see other attractions such as the Neo-Renaissance National Museum at its Northern end. Also, the Koruna Palace with its covered shopping arcade and glass dome is a much visited venue as well. A short walk away is the Na Prikope as well as Parizska Street where one can continue with much more shopping!
It is actually quite difficult to spot Koruna Palace in the midst of all the shopping arcades. Bright lights shining and “sale” signs drawing us to shops such as Mango and H&M. We finally had to resort to asking one of the sales assistant on the location of Koruna Palace. She then as-a-matter-of-factly pointed to the building on the opposite side of the street. We were staring at it all these while and did not realise it!

Charles Bridge is definitely the most prominent and iconic structure in Prague. Everyone visits Charles Bridge. In fact, without a visit to Charles Bridge, one can be considered not to have visited Prague.

History of Charles Bridge Prague
Charles Bridge crosses the Vltava River and this connection made Prague an important centre of trade between east and west Europe. Initially, the bridge was called the Stone Bridge or the Prague Bridge. It was only known as Charles Bridge (as we know it today) since 1870.
This entrance is particularly interesting because of the 3 levels that it has. The Moon, Sun and Star Level. These were suggested by astrologers of the time and it was recommended that the odd number pyramid was to be used (i.e. 135797531) for the construction date of the bridge.
There’s an interesting fact about the Charles Bridge. It was actually built initially, as a functional construction for jousting tournaments! Can you believe it?! At that point in time, there werent many decorations except for a simple crucifix. However, the desire of the Catholics for ornamentation resulted in 30 statues built between 1600 and 1800AD. Today, there are 75 statues along the bridge.
Things to do at Charles Bridge Prague
The bridge is 516 metres long with 16 pillars and 3 bridge towers. In the day, there would be many souvenir shops, performing artistes, painters and even pick-pockets (beware!) on the bridge.
Try not to buy your souvenirs here as they are usually more expensive than elsewhere in the city. Kate can attest to that right? :p

Stories and Legends of Charles Bridge
There are also many stories about which statue to touch to become a millionaire. If you touch other statues, you will have children OR your husband will become obedient husbands. Well, the story goes that one day, a tour guide was bringing a group of tourists along Charles Bridge, he started to say that “if you touch this statue, you will become rich!”. MANY tourists started to touch the statue! The other tour guides heard about it and started to come up with variations of these stories!
For instance, this statue of John Nepomuk (thrown into the river Vltava) has 2 stories to it. IF you touch the statue on the right, you will be rich! (notice that the statue has been touched till it changed colour!). IF you touch the statue on the left (think it was a dog), then your husband will be obedient!
